North Andover Students To Compete in Regional Tournament March 19
On Saturday March 19th, 11 teams representing North Andover’s elementary schools and the middle school, will be competing in the Destination ImagiNation Regional Tournament at Triton Regional High School in Byfield.
Destination ImagiNation is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended Challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving. From beginning to end, the children are wholly and fully in charge of choosing and solving their Challenge. The tournament competition also includes an Instant Challenge, where each team has to improvise together to complete a surprise task.
This year more than 70 North Andover students selected Challenges that incorporate multiple methods to tell a story, include improvisation about a mythic creature, design and build a weight-bearing structure or explore bugs and their role within nature.
