Atkinson Elementary has been focused on ways we can "Amaze with RAISE" this year (that's our slogan for 2015-2016). We've celebrated students' hard work in class and with behavior at our All-Star Assembly. We've had two rounds of Landry Lessons with each grade level; topics have included school rules and the differences between friendly, mean and bully behaviors. Mrs. Good, a fifth grade teacher, organized a whole school rally in support of our NAHS Knights just before the Homecoming Game. The football players and cheerleaders talked about how RAISE values impact their efforts on the field and in the classroom. Another school event was the Apple Crunch Day with Dr. Price and Smolak Farms. Students and staff came together to simultaneously bite and enjoy a locally grown product, an empire apple. RAISE buddies are paired up across the grade levels at Atkinson this year, so our younger students can form relationships with our older and wiser student-leaders. Finally, we just completed our student council election for RAISE Representatives in grades 3-5. 18 boys and girls will be engaged in tasks that build responsibility and demonstrate service to the school and community. At Atkinson, we are always looking for new ways to Amaze with RAISE. We hope you all are having an awesome time, as well. :)
