Devices on hand and arriving:

We are excited to have a Chromebook for each student in grades 1-12 (OLA & Hybrid). In addition, we have a Chromebook for each kindergarten student enrolled in the Online Learning Academy (OLA) and additional Chromebooks for use in the kindergarten classrooms. Currently - we have more than enough Chromebooks ready to be deployed to students. An additional 1200 are due to arrive on 9/8. They do require some initial setup which will be done in time for the start of school.

Chromebooks run the Chrome Operating System. Students log in with the NAPS Google Account and have access to all of their needed educational Apps including Google Classroom, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Additionally, they run any content specific apps such as ST Math, Lexia, Zearn, iXL and Edpuzzle. As an Enterprise level Google Apps for Education (GAFE) district we have unlimited cloud storage on Google Drive and Chromebooks allow for easy management of student files directly to this cloud storage. We will also have access to all of the additional features Google will be adding to Google Meet over the coming weeks including, viewing up to 49 participants at one time, attendance tracking, hand raising, breakout rooms, blurred backgrounds and more teacher controls.

Can I use my own device?

All students (OLA & Hybrid) may use a home computer that runs the Chrome browser while at home. Each student will still be assigned a district Chromebook which they will bring home and charge each night. The benefit of all students using the same device is that there will be consistent access to educational apps. Staff can demonstrate the use of these apps in a consistent manner, rather than trying to teach how to use apps on various devices and browsers. Chromebooks also allow for the ability of the Technology Department to push out updates to all devices and ensure the most up to date Google resources are in use.

Technology Support:

Students having trouble should access support based on their particular situation:

  • If they can log into their NAPS Google Account they should contact their teacher for support first. If they are still having trouble, they can submit a help ticket directly from their google account.
  • If they can not log in to their NAPS Google Account they can call the helpline number between the hours of 8am and 9am. 978-380-1012 This number is also on the back of each chromebook.
