Dr. Kevin Hutchinson, Superintendent of Schools, Community Meeting:

General Goals:
• To achieve a deeper understanding of the needs of the district through a comprehensive view of
school and municipal community members
• To develop more extensive connections with both the school and municipal communities
• To identify key issues in the school system that will help inform systemic process planning
• To identify key strategies for enhancing productivity and effectiveness
• To build trust and confidence through a process of open, honest, and respectful communication
Franklin Holiday Social: Save the Date, Saturday, December 8th from 1-3 pm!
We’re looking for volunteers to assist with the following Holiday Social activities:
· Set Up and/or decorating – Friday, Dec 7th from 6-8 pm
· Shopping Room Helpers oversee cashiers and assist children shopping (two shifts 1-2pm & 2-3pm)
· Serving pizza
· Coordinator for cookie stroll
· Boxing cookie orders for families
· Monitoring mural area
· Clean up on Saturday, Dec 8th from 3-4pm

Franklin Spirit Wear – looking to show your Franklin School Spirit? We are pleased to offer the opportunity to purchase Franklin long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts and flannel pants. Orders must be placed by Saturday, November 10th @ http://www.athleticenterprises.net and click on The Franklin School link.
Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held Wednesday, November 7th through Monday, November 19th. Additional details will be sent home soon.
Casa Blanca Fundraiser – Tuesday, November 27th Casa Blanca in Andover is generously donating a portion of all sales to the Franklin School PTO from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Master Shin’s World Class Martial Arts is offering a special 4-week program (November 5th through December 1st; 2 classes per week) for Franklin School students. If you are interested in signing up; please send a check to school tomorrow in the amount of $59 made payable to “Franklin School PTO”. Master Shin’s is donating the entire registration fee to the Franklin School PTO. On the envelope, please address to “Franklin School PTO - Master Shin’s”.
Stop & Shop A+ School Rewards Program. Starting October 5th, 2012 through March 28th, 2013, Franklin will have the opportunity to earn cash through this Stop & Shop program. You must register your Stop & Shop card at: www.stopandshop.com/aplus. Remember, even if you registered your card last year, you must re-register this year. Please be sure to register your card to benefit Franklin Elementary School using ID #09430.
Enrichment Council Show:
Mainely Stars Planetarium – On Thursday, November 8th, the North Andover Schools Enrichment Council will provide Franklin Elementary School third graders with the opportunity to explore "The Changing Moon" with Director Scott Negley. After entering an inflatable planetarium, students will follow the moon’s nightly progression and use observations to predict its next stage. Using a hands-on moon model and lamp, each child also will demonstrate the cause of the phases and shows how lunar and solar eclipses occur when the sun and moon are perfectly aligned. Past Events & News…
The October Box Tops contest was a big success! Franklin collected 9,928 Box Tops for a total of $992.80 for our school. The winner of the contest is 4A - they collected 1,041 Box Tops! Congrats to 4A and to all the students that helped us collect Box Tops. Please continue to save your Box Tops for the next contest in February. Go Franklin School!!!!!
Tupperware Fundraiser – The Franklin School PTO raised $650 from the Tupperware Fundraiser! Thank you again for your support!
Franklin School Directory: The 2012-2013 School Directory was recently released as a PDF file format to all families that provided an email address on the student directory release form. If you do not have an email address, or you did not return a signed release form and would like a copy of the student directory, please contact the school office for a printed copy. The school directory provides you with a means of contacting other Franklin families.

Boys and Girls Town Basketball Program - The deadlines are as follows:
Grades 5 to 8 10/31/12
Grades 2 to 4 11/15/12
Registrations after those dates will unfortunately require payment of a late fee. With our move to the MVC, we want to build strong programs top to bottom, and we would love to have as many boys and girls participating in our programs.
NABC Wrestling has online registrations open until 11/30.

North Andover Parent Advisory Council News
Depression & Anxiety Workshop. On Monday, November 5, Behavioral therapist Amy Farabaugh, Ph.D. will speak about using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression and Anxiety. Dr. Farabaugh is the Director of Psychotherapy Research for the Depression Clinical & Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. The workshop will begin at 7:30pm in the North Andover Middle School library. The workshop is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited to attend! No registration required.
Liaisons Wanted! We are looking for parents in each school to represent NAPAC. This is a great way to take a more active role in your child’s education! There is no time commitment; all that is required is that you be a person who likes to help others. If you are interested, please e-mail us at NorthAndoverPAC@gmail.com.
The North Andover Parent Advisory Council (NAPAC) is for any parent who has a child with an IEP or 504 Plan. Meetings offer a chance to network with other parents, learn about issues affecting special education in the district, and ask questions.
