Welcome to Franklin Elementary School

The Franklin School is home to 540 students in grades K-5. At Franklin we strive to create a safe, challenging educational environment that offers meaningful learning experiences designed to engage all students. We recognize and embrace the wonderful diversity of cultures, talents, learning styles and backgrounds that our students bring to us. We celebrate individual differences and set high expectations for all. Our goal is to create a community of learners who treat each other with respect and dignity. We believe we can achieve that through the collaborative efforts of school/parent/community partnerships and a shared vision of common values.

It is the purpose of Franklin Elementary School to help all students learn in a caring, motivating environment that provides opportunities for academic and social growth along with a commitment to excellence. Please explore our website to learn more about what makes the Franklin such a special place to go to school!

Class Placement
The placement teams will be meeting in the near future to begin the process of creating class assignments for the 2013-14 school year. This is a complex and thoughtful process that considers many factors, including: academic levels, gender, social groupings and individual student needs. Our goal is to create balanced classroom communities that work well together. Many people provide input into this process including: the classroom teacher, guidance counselor, reading specialist, special education teachers and the principal. Parents can also provide valuable information.

Parents are welcome to submit written input if they would like to communicate information about their child that they would like the team to take into consideration when determining placements. Requests for particular teachers cannot be honored. If you would like to provide input please do so in the form of a letter addressed to Mrs. McCarthy (no email please) submitted no later than May 24th.
Goodwill Service Project
Start cleaning out those closets and garages! Later this month the Franklin School will once again join forces with Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries for a RAISE service project. Students will be given tickets with their classroom number on it. We are encouraging them to give the tickets to family and friends to attach to donations deposited at the Goodwill donation center at the North Andover Stop & Shop plaza, Saturday May 25th through Saturday June 8th. This is a great service project that supports a worthy organization. Please take advantage of the opportunity to participate if you have unneeded goods (housewares, shoes, linens) or clothing. Classes are competing against each other to see which class can generate the most donations! Students will bring home tickets and information the week of May 20th.
Academic / Art Fair
Please plan to join us on Tuesday evening June 4th anytime between 6:30 to 8:00 to visit your child?s classroom. This event is for students in Grades 1 to 4 to share the work they have been doing in Art and in their classrooms with their families. Student artwork will be showcased in the hallways and academic work will be on display in classrooms. Please note that this is a date change because our previously scheduled date conflicted with Town Meeting.
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
This is our opportunity to honor and thank all of the volunteers who have helped us so much throughout the year. Please plan to join us for refreshments anytime between 8:45 and 10:00 a.m., on Thursday morning May 30th.

New Library Furniture

Thanks to the Franklin School P.T.O. for providing new furnishings for the library.  Here are some pictures of the students from 3N enjoying the new tables and chairs during their library time.

Please Help us Go Green !!

Dear Franklin Families,

In our efforts to "Go Green" this school year we will be posting updated information about school events here on the Franklin School website.  In addition to the website we will be sending emails regularly as a means of communication regarding various events and activities.  We need your help in reaching our goal towards being virtually paperless by frequently checking the links below.

Please sign up for Franklin Newsflash. It's simple: you just provide your name and email address, and the Franklin School Monthly Minutes and other important news about school events will be delivered to your email account.

Our school calendar can be found using the following link http://www.northandoverpublicschools.com/franklin/fran_calendar.cfm

We will also be posting all forms and flyers in our Virtual Backpack which can located at http://www.northandoverpublicschools.com/franklin/fran_virtual_backpack.cfm

Thank you for your support with this effort,

The Franklin PTO
