Franklin School celebrates Read Across America Week
Monday, March 2 – Friday, March 6th
Franklin students celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd and from coast to coast, more than 45 million readers, both young and old, are gearing up for the nation's largest reading celebration-the National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America Day. On Monday, March 2nd, community members will put aside the many hats they wear for work and play and don the ultimate reading hat - the red and white striped stovepipe made famous by the Cat in the Hat when they come to the FranklinSchool to read to our students.
There is also a special visit from the Cat in the Hat (Ms. Lathrop’s alter ego) on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:30pm in the cafeteria. For more information, contact Principal, Pam Lathrop or Secretary, Jean McAloon at the school 978-794-1990.
FranklinSchool starts 5-2-1-0 Program

As part of the elementary health program in the North Andover Schools, the Health and Physical Education Departments are going to sponsor a 5-2-1-0 Program for all students during the next few months.The 5-2-1-0 program outlines nutritional and physical activities that promote wellness.Each of the numbers in the 5-2-1-0 represents a wellness goal that students will be working to achieve.

Franklin Night at Lowell Devils:

Mark your calendars for the AnnualTown wide Mother/Son Jammin' Fun Dance on April 3rd for (K-2nd grade) and April 4th for (3rd-5th grade). The theme is "Surf's Up" so get ready for a fun night in your Hawaiian shirt. Come dance, limbo and party with that cute boy in your life! Tickets are $25 per couple/family group and will be on sale on March 7th from 9am to 12pm at Atkinson Elementary. Congrats to Mrs. Boudreau's class for winning the Box Tops contest!
Her class collected 684 Box Tops! For their class prize, they will be enjoying lunch with Ms. Lathrop. Thank you to all the Franklin students for collecting 8455 Box Tops. FranklinSchool Variety Show was a huge success!

Thanks to all who braved the weather this winter and supported our school at the monthly community fundraisers held at Dish, Elements and Stachey’s.Proceeds from these fundraisers brought in more than $800.00 to our school.Mark your calendars for our next community fundraiser at Keys Grille on April 14th & 15th.

NAMS 6th grade - North Andover Middle School 6th grade Girl Scouts (won dinner for 8 at Burtons Grill plus transportation from Black TieLimousine, Inc. for the entire troop and tickets to the February 6th grade dance atthe Joseph N. Police personnel will pick up the students at their homes, give them a tour of the police station, and deliver them to their school before the first bell! Jessica S. (Thomson Elementary), winner of Fireperson for the Day. Jessica will visit the downtown fire station. After her tour she can try on a pair of firefighter's boots, climb aboard a fire truck, see where the fire personnel live at the station and visit the Chief! Abby K. (Atkinson Elementary), who won a $50 gift certificate from Thunder Sports. The top selling adult, Kim Hearst, won dinner for 4 at Burton's Grill.
The NASEC is very grateful for the generosity of the North Andover businesses and town departments who supported the first annual Knight Lights fundraiser. The NASEC is a non-profit organization that works collaboratively with the public schools in North Andover to draw high-quality performers and educators. Performances encompass art, music and science opportunities that enhance what the children learn in the classroom

NAPAC NEWS:
On Thursday, March 26th NAPAC will welcome North Andover Special Education Department Heads, MaryLou McCarthy (PreSchool/Elementary) and Jean Kelly (Middle School/High School), who will describe the specifics of the many special education programs at the various schools and discuss the transitions issues parents should be aware of as their children move through the special education school system. We will also welcome Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hutchinson who will discuss Essential Standards Requirements as they relate to special education and children on IEPS and 504 plans. Our meeting will be held in the North Andover High School Library from 7-9pm.

for Track & Field 2009 through 3/31/09 , Girls Softball 2009 through 2/28/09 and late registration is available with an additional $20 fee for Girl's Volleyball until 1/31/09 .
