The North Andover School Committee has selected Dr. Jennifer Price as Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2015. The decision to appoint Dr. Price was unanimously voted on Monday, December 15 as one of three candidates, closing the Superintendent search process. The School Committee reports contract negotiations with Dr. Price have begun and both sides anticipate final approval of her contract at their next scheduled meeting on January 8, 2015.
School Committee Chairman Andrew McDevitt praised Dr. Price’s leadership and academic background as the town’s new leader of approximately 4,800 students. “Her ability to inspire teachers and students to new levels of academic excellence was apparent at Newton North High School. We look forward to her leadership and innovation here in North Andover. Dr. Price brings expertise, energy, and enthusiasm and we are confident she is the right person to drive improvements in teaching and learning we need to accelerate the academic performance and growth of all North Andover’s students.”
Dr. Price reports that, “Throughout the entire process, I have been inspired by the commitment of North Andover to its schools. As the process unfolded, I just knew that North Andover was the right fit for me, and I am so honored that the School Committee felt I was the right person for North Andover. I look forward to working with the North Andover community to move the district forward for many years to come.”
Dr. Jennifer Price, of West Newton, has 19 years of experience as a teacher or building-based administrator in Massachusetts beginning in Maynard where she taught history and was twice awarded Teacher of the Year. She served as principal during Newton North's construction and led the school's transition to the new facility with new educational programs. School Committee member Stan Limpert led the Superintendent Search Subcommittee. Mr. McDevitt credited Mr. Limpert and the subcommittee for their success in identifying Dr. Price as a finalist. “Mr. Limpert led a fantastic cross-selection of North Andover residents to identify community strengths and needs in this vital role for the North Andover students. This subcommittee had the difficult task of reviewing candidates and presenting to the School Committee their finalists; we are indebted to them for their dedication and commitment.”
