Parents on the Playground Program - POPP is a program at Kittredge that supports the noon attendants in providing alternative activities for the children on days with bad weather where lunch recess is held indoors and additional coverage outside on the warm weather days. It was piloted during the winter months and because of its great success, it will be continued through the rest of the year. In order to do this, volunteers are needed on every Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 11am-1pm and every Tuesday/Thursday from 11:30- 1:30. You can volunteer as much or as little as possible, whether it is daily, weekly or monthly. As with all volunteering at Kittredge, volunteers must have CORI form checks and a brief orientation will be done by Mr. Cushing. Please contact Kathleen Pease ( thepeases@comcast.net or 978-687-4245) with ?s or to sign up to be a part of the POPP program.
Chess Club Coordinator Needed - Are you looking for a way to get involved with the children at Kittredge? Do you enjoy playing chess? We need a chess club coordinator for the next school year. There have been 15-20 kids involved in chess club for the past couple of years and our faithful coordinator has chosen to retire. We’d like to keep these children engaged and learning the game of chess. The group meets once per week before school, but can be flexible re: meeting times for next year. If you are interested, you have an opportunity to shadow the coordinator this year and learn the ropes before jumping in next year. If interested, please contact Christine Karelas ckarelas@comcast.net.
Teacher Appreciation week is May 4th- May 8th. We are looking for volunteers to help with morning staff duty (8:00-8:15am) and afternoon staff duty (2:35pm-3pm). Please contact Amy Dion at amorandion@gmail.com or 978 688 8854 if you are able to help.
