Rotary District 7930
Rotary Club of North Andover

Through the world-wide network of Rotary Clubs, Rotary Youth Exchange offers to teenage students around the world the opportunity for supervised international travel and study.  Students gain fluency in a foreign language and experience a foreign culture, while living with different host families and attending the local high school.  In the process, the students discover what resources they have within themselves to grow in knowledge, self-confidence, empathy, compassion, and maturity.  North Andover is a part of Rotary District 7930 which oversees the local clubs’ participation in the program.  District 7930 encompasses the towns in northeastern Massachusetts.  We are currently scheduled for 14 students to go out-bound from the District to various countries, and 14 inbounds are headed to the District for the upcoming school year.  Through our inbound students, we offer to local families the opportunity to host a student, experience a foreign culture, and help and watch a foreign teenager grow and mature.

Summer Reading PDF Print E-mail
FOREWORD

All students at North Andover High School are required to do readings prior to entering English “A.”  Some students will begin this course in trimester 1; therefore, they should do the readings over the summer.  Others may begin English ”A” in trimester 2, in which case, they should do the readings during trimester 1.

The department of English along with the school librarian, a total of 14 professional educators, chose these specific titles because they complement elements of the existing curriculum so that the readings are not separate from what we do during the school year.  It helps both students and teachers “hit the ground running” as soon as we return to school.

New NAHS Trimester Schedule PDF Print E-mail
Frequently Asked Questions

Why is NAHS moving from our current 5 period day, 6 day rotation schedule to a 5 period day trimester schedule?
The most important reason we are moving to a new schedule is that our current schedule is so restrictive that students cannot meet our graduation requirements.  The vast majority of the Classes of 2009 and 2010 have not been able to fit in their Health/Physical Education requirements or their Fine Arts requirements.  And if the student is involved in our Music program or Special Education program the opportunity to fulfill graduation requirements or choose an elective in non-existent.
