OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS

The following scholarships are offered by local and national organizations. More detailed information on these scholarships is available on the websites listed below and also in the Guidance Office. Please note that deadlines and specific requirements for each of the scholarships differ greatly. It is the responsibility of the student to make certain that their applications and supporting documents are complete.

Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship for future college students who played sports at the high school level. This year's high school seniors are eligible to apply if they will be attending college next year. Saint Alfio, Filadelfo, and Cirino Scholarship: The applicant must be a member in good standing of the graduating class, and must have been accepted at an accredited higher school of learning. The award will be based on the following criteria: scholastic ability, financial need, character and community involvement, school and outside activities. Applications are available in Guidance. The Town of North Andover Republican Town Committee James Gammie Memorial Scholarship: Open to any graduating senior who is a resident of the Town of North Andover going on to a four year college or university who has demonstrated leadership skills, participated in community service and has shown good overall citizenship. Please submit a short essay on "WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN?" Copy of transcript, GPA and rank, essay and application required. Lawrence Vietnam Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must be a high school senior. Application and essay in 100 words or less: "What a Veteran Means to Me". Applications available in Guidance. Deadline: May 2, 2015
Sargent Improvement Club: The Sargent Improvement Club of Methuen, MA will be awarding scholarships in various amounts to graduating seniors using the following criteria: have a family member who is a member in good standing at the Sargent Improvement Club of Methuen, activities and community service, and grades an academic qualifications. Rotary District 7930: $10,000 Service Above Self Scholarship: The award serves to recognize an outstanding high school senior who has demonstrated his/her commitment to SERVICE ABOVE SELF in his/her town/community. it is designed to encourage the recipient to dedicate his/her professional life and personal life to improving the quality of life of people in his/her community and beyond. Potential applicants will be interviewed by the North Andover Rotary Club and one applicant will be submitted to a pool of applicants considered by the District. Children and grandchildren of Rotarians are not eligible. Applications are available in Guidance. Deadline: May 1, 2015
Methuen Festival of Trees Scholarship: Applicant must be a resident of the Merrimack Valley who is a high school senior. Criteria include: strength and quality of essay, activities and community service, grades and academic qualifications, financial need, volunteers of the Methuen Festival of Trees and students pursuing studies in historic preservation and restoration will receive special consideration. Applications available in Guidance. Deadline: May 8, 2015
Methuen Memorial Music Hall Scholarships: Two $1,000 scholarships. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who reside, attend school or participate in musical or cultural activities in the Merrimack Valley area, who are accepted to college for the 2015 - 2016 academic year and who are planning to pursue a major in music, musical performance or music education. Essex County Fire Wardens Association - Phillip A. Wood Memorial Scholarship: For graduating seniors seeking a degree in the following areas of study: Forestry, Botany, Horticulture, Soil Service, Plant Biology, Conservation, Watershed Management, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Biology, Animal and Veterinary Services, Park and Recreation Management, Fire Suppression and Fire Prevention. Transcript, three references and application required. Applications available in Guidance. Deadline: May 4, 2015
