Can I access my school email at home?
Yes. You can access NAPS email on a PC or a MAC by opening a browser and typing the following url:
If you are on a PC using Internet Explorer, the premium version of Outlook Web Access will run. If you are on a MAC, or on a PC using any browser other than Internet Explorer, Outloook Web Access Light will run.
How often will I need to change my email password and what are the "complexity" requirements?
Passwords expire every 90 days. You will be warned that your password is about to expire beginnng 14 days before the expiration date. You must choose a password that is different from the previous 4 passwords you have set.
- Not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed 2 consecutive characters
- Be at least 6 characters in length
- Contain characters from 3 of the following 4 categories:
- Uppercase (A through Z)
- Lowercase (a through z)
- Digits (0 through 9)
- "Special" characters (!, $, #, %)
I was prompted to change my password and did, but I still need to enter my old password to log in.
TIPS & TRICKS
Along with the warning that your password will expire in "n days", you are directed to a "change password" screen. At the bottom of this screen are two buttons. The one on the left is Change Password. The one on the right is Continue. If you wish to change your password, be sure to click Change Password. Clicking Continue will NOT change your password.
I have tried, unsuccessfully, to delete an entry in the Most Recent Recipients box by selecting it and pressing delete. Is there a way to delete Most Recent Recipients?
Yes. On a MAC, running OWA Light, you must press the fn key along with the delete key after selecting the Most Recent Recipient you wish to delete.
To save your username on the Outlook Web Access login page when using your school-issued or home computer, click on This is a private computer.
Instead of "next page"
To display more emails on one page, click on Options (top, right), then Messaging (left sidebar) and change the Number of items to display per page to 100.
Best practice - naming attachments
When naming files that will be emailed as attachments, it is best to avoid spaces and/or special characters & to always include the extension (.doc for WORD files, .xls for EXCEL files, etc. ) in the file name.
Creating Contact Folders
OWA Light does not include a feature for creating personal distribution lists. Creating Contact Folders, though not quite as quick and easy as Distribution Lists, provides you with the ability to send an email to a group without having to type or select each individual's contact information.
