PRESIDENT'S NOTES
New to Sargent school this year?  Then come to an informal coffee to learn about the PTO, what it does, and how you can get involved. Thinking about becoming a room parent?  We can answer your questions about that and anything else you are curious about, like drop-off and pick-up procedures, etc.  Kids welcome.  We have scheduled AM and PM meetings to accommodate working and stay-at-home parents.  Coffee and treats will be served.  Come either Friday September 19th at 9:30 AM in the cafeteria, or Wednesday, September 24th at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.

Thank you to the Safety and Beautification Committee for all their hard work sprucing up Sargent for the start of the New Year.  The school grounds looked wonderful and welcoming.

We have ordered new playground balls, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk for FREE as a result of our diligent Campbell’s coupon clipping initiative!  Thanks to all who remembered to clip and send in their labels.  Keep 'em coming!

You can still sign up to volunteer for one of our many committees at the Open Houses this week.  Look for our table in the entry hall.  Learn about the interactive MIMIOs that are in use in some classrooms on Tuesday night in the foyer.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Remember to get yours at Stevens Memorial Library.

We kicked off our Meadow Farms catalog fundraiser Wednesday afternoon.  This represents our biggest fundraiser for the year.  The money we earn supports our children and teachers in the classroom.  You can order on line (which is good for those out of state relatives) and our children get to choose their rewards.  Shop Early and Shop Often. Go Sargent Kids!

To date, over 260 Sargent families have registered their email. You need to register your email in order to receive Monday Minutes on line.  Remember our goal is to be paperless by October.   Register your family email address NOW!

BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE CLEAN-UP:  Do you like to garden?  If you are looking to volunteer this year we could really use your help.  We are planning our first fall clean-up for Saturday, September 20st, at 1:00 pm.  We will be weeding, hedging and trimming overgrown bushes and trees, clearing walking paths through the Wooded Wetlands Study Area, removing poison ivy and trash, raking, and sweeping. We hope that we can count on your support to complete some much-needed landscape maintenance.  Please bring your own gloves, rakes, brooms, clippers, hand saws, hedge trimmers, weed-whackers, limb-trimming equipment, paper leaf bags, and drinking water.  Rain date is Sunday, September 21st, same time.  Any questions please email Jill Romano at maddieromano@comcast.net or Rose Lucera at rlucera@aol.com.  THANK YOU!

FUNDRAISINGCommittee Chair Kim Hearst (KimHearst@comcast.net)
Yes! I want to support my school at about 25 cents a day!
Direct Donations are being accepted to support your PTO in its efforts to enrich our children’s classroom experience. A letter should come home with your child(ren) this week and we sincerely hope you will consider the merits of a direct donation to your PTO.
