PRESIDENT'S NOTES:
What a fantastic Welcome Back Ice Cream Social! It was great not only seeing new families from Orientation, but returning families catching up with each other. Our playground was alive with kids playing. Everyone had a great time. As with all PTO events, we could not have done it without volunteers. Special thanks to: Valerie Cinseruli, Maria Mesinger, Lisa Kramer, Emily Webster, Cori Poirier, Teddie Sarmanian, Stephanie Warren, Marsha Fielder, Tallie Abernathy, Jim Satterwhite, Joe Silveira and especially Beth Kline. Thanks to all the kids working the tables…you all did a great job!
Thank you to all our parents who signed up for PTO committees. Your committee chair will be contacting you during the month of September.
When Parents Get Involved, Good Things Happen!
This year, in tandem with the school district, we are going green with Monday Minutes and other communications. Our goal is that by October, you will receive all Monday Minutes via email. For this to work, you will need to do the following:
- Complete and return the PTO directory form, which was in your child’s backpack on the first day of school. It is imperative that you provide a current email address in order to receive school and district information
- Go to the School website to Register as a user: http://www.northandoverpublicschools.com/sargent/index.php/component/user/?task=register
- To sign up for automatic Monday Minutes delivered via email, click “Sign up for Monday Minutes” on the left side, this only appears for registered users.
We want to emphasize that your email addresses are secure within the district’s system. No person outside of the school district will have access to the information. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we move toward our paperless goal. During the month of September, you will continue to receive a hardcopy of Monday Minutes in your child’s backpack.
Our first PTO meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 10th at 7:00 in the cafeteria. This is our planning meeting in which we will do committee sign-ups. Everyone is welcomed to attend.
Breakfast Buddies looking for a new chair!
This fun event runs in the fall during the week of the book fair. Parents and families join their student for a breakfast of donuts, bagels, yogurt, coffee, juice or hot chocolate before school. Chairing this event involves a few weeks of preparation gathering orders, purchasing the bagels and donuts at vendors, shopping at BJ’s, and gathering volunteers. Your Breakfast Buddies week finds you at school by 7:00 and done cleaning up by about 8:45. Previous years’ notes are very helpful and neatly organized in a binder.
Your 2008-2009 PTO Board Members:
Co-Presidents Mary Wirtz, Snowy Satterwhite
Treasurer Joy Duncan
Co-Secretaries Kelley Papa, Kim Marroni
FUNDRAISING

There are hundreds of popular stores and catalog companies on the participating retailers list. Why not do all your usual holiday shopping or routine home-office supply purchases through School Pop? Registered users also have access to exclusive discounts & specials! To register go to: www.schoolpop.com
Once registered, check to verify you are logged in before shopping. If the upper corner ‘Log Out’ option is not there you are not logged in.
Got Juice?
Fan of Juicy Juice beverages? They now have Box Tops on the packaging! On sale this week: V8 Splash Juices a participating brand in the Label’s for Education program. Save the cap for collections! Also this year we are piloting a collection program for recycling juice bags such as Capri Sun. Bags must be empty and straws removed. We receive free shipping to a company that recycles them into tote bags, pencil cases and other neat stuff you’ll see popping up at several retailers. Our school receives 2 cents a bag, but more importantly we remove all those little metallic bags from the trash!
Clipping Captains
Turn in your Summer Collection Baggies this week! Be sure to label your baggie with your name and class information. Summer collectors will receive a little goodie in their returned baggie while supplies last! Got questions about collections? Confused on what to save?
