Presidents' Message

Hello Everyone,

Now that the New Year has started everybody seems to be back into the routine. Thank you to all those that braved the cold and came out for our first PTO meeting of the New Year. Many great conversations and ideas were covered. Please let us know if you have items you would like added to next month's agenda by emailing us at sargentpto.pres1@gmail.com .

The Fifth Grade Committee has been busy planning. Please check out the Mama Mia Pasta Ria (Wed - Feb 8th) notices that went home and make your reservations today so you can get the seating of your choice. It is always a fun night out for Sargent families to eat together, while the fifth graders serve and entertain. Best of all, someone else has to do the cooking!

Stay warm and have a great week,

Chris and Melissa

Green Tip of the Week

Green Team Holiday Tip: Recycle your Christmas tree. These trees are chipped up and dumped at the Cyr Recycling Center on Sharpners Pond Road. In the spring, mulch will be made from the trees.

Curbside Christmas tree chipping will begin Tuesday January 3rd on your scheduled trash day (delayed Saturday trees will be picked up on Monday 1/09/2012) and ends Friday January 13th.  Please make sure that all of your treasured decorations are removed.  Including the stand!  (Don't forget any lights, wires, screws or any other hazards).  Remember just the tree.  No bags.  No lights, ornaments or stands.  No wires or other hazards!  Bagged trees or trees with hazards will be left at the curb for you to dispose of.

Also remember to keep your tree out of the snow.

Community Involvement Committee

Our community involvement idea drive was a sucess! Thank you to all the students who presented their ideas. We received 18 well written entries, and Sargent is proud to announce that our upcoming drives will involve our LOCAL Animal Shelter and the North Andover Senior Center. Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you to all who contributed to the Annual Coat Drive. The drive wrapped up on January 8th, and Sargent School donated over 150 coats. Your donations are very much appreciated!

Playground Committee

We are looking for students at all grade levels to complete a short survey about what they like about our playground and what they would like to see added.  If your child is interested please email us at sargentpto.communications@gmail.com and we'll send you the survey link.

We are looking for parents and teachers to join the team as we begin working on the design phase of the project.  We can use help at all levels of committment.  If interested please email cindy Custer at thecusters@comcast.net or Joy Duncan at joyanddan@verizon.net

Sargent Explorations Club:

We are looking for parents interested in volunteering to share their hobbies or special interests/talents with students in before and after school clubs.  Examples include chess, knitting, lego etc.  If you are interested in possibly sharing your talents click this link and you'll be forwarded to a very short survey form to complete.
