Happy New Year!

This year, Atkinson students are looking forward to a long list of RAISE-related activities that will make their scholastic experiences wicked awesome. We know the A stands for achievement and connects directly to the academic efforts being made in classrooms on reading, writing (Lucy Calkins) and mathematics (Eureka). It's exciting to see the growth across all areas K-5 as teachers become more familiar with new curricula and as students apply their new knowledge and skills. The RAISE Reps will be planning fun and meaningful social and service activities in the coming months. In late January, we will have our "New Year's Ball" to celebrate the changing calendar together. It's a fancy dress-up spirit day that students have loved over the years. The Reps will be collecting non-perishable food items for the local pantry and raising money for a buddy bench for the school playground in March and April. During March Madness, we also run a shooting contest during recess time to bring awareness to a local cause. After kids in grades 3-5 give it their all on MCAS, we'll end the year with some exhibitions of student work, our variety show, field day and rock-paper-scissors tournament.
