Dear Friends -

Good Morning and Happy Opening Day!!!  Wow, I am still so overwhelmed at the outpouring of support we received at our Spring Soiree!  Not only was it just a really fun night, but it was very successful in raising funds for our beautiful school.  We are just so grateful to each and every one of you for your support - we would not have been so successful without all of you. And....how can I ever thank our committee for the hard work they put into this event, giving up so much of their own precious time to help our school. Words will never be enough to thank you all! And to our staff - your presence at the event was so awesome and so appreciated!  Thank you to them! And to our Supt. of Schools, Dr. Price, who came to give her support. All of this together was just so awesome - I still can't process it all and think of the appropriate words of thanks.  Just know that it ALL means so much to me and why I just LOVE what I do - it's all for our little friends that come here smiling every day that makes it all worth it!  They are what it is all about and they all thank you as well. They will LOVE the new learning materials they get from the proceeds of this wonderful event.

Here are this week's short tidbits (always short the week before vacation!):

  • Happy Birthday:  OK so we have a couple of children who will either celebrate their birthday this week or during vacation.  Happy Birthday wishes go out to Darianny (Miss Laurie/PM), Kevin F. (Miss Lauren), and Heer (Miss Lauren).  I hope you all enjoy your special days - Happy Birthday!!!!
  • Early Release:  Wednesday is "Wacky Wednesday" so of course that means it is an early release day.
  • Vacation:  Next week is school vacation - the children will be off from 4/17 - 4/24 and return on Monday, April 25th.
  • Cooties:  We had several children with viruses including fevers, coughs, colds and just the "blahs".  Some of the fevers and such seemed to linger on - hopefully they will all feel better today.
  • Tuition:  Just a reminder that your April tuition is now due.
  • Twitter:  I am trying hard to capture brief moments of time for our Twitter feed.  You can check out my photos and news w/o even having a Twitter account.  Just pop onto our website and the feed runs right on the front page:  www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool
  • Red Sox Day:  Today is Red Sox day - check out our Twitter feed later on for a cute photo of our fans!

OK, so I think that's it for now - I'll give a reminder for early release.  Have a fantastic Monday and I'll be back to report on the final Soiree number!!!

Thank you all again!

ML  :)

Dear Friends -

Yikes, what crazy weather we are having!!!  Hard to figure out what forecast you should prepare for each day. How was your weekend?  Mine was crazy busy! We had puppy school and then a big fundraiser for my nephew's foundation on Saturday night. It was a fun filled evening with friends and family. Then on Sunday we had to go wish my niece a happy birthday but then also say goodbye to her again. She came home from CA for the weekend event and now back she goes. She is at USC studying for her PhD and we really miss her a lot. She has a very special relationship with Joanne so it is sad for Joanne to see her leave again. Anyway, needless to say we are all exhausted - even Susie Q!

So, here are this week's tidbits:
  • Snow Today:  Well, as you know it may snow 3-6 inches today.  The afternoon parents should pay close attention to weather because if it does get bad, we may have to make a decision on whether we bring the children in or not.  We'll keep you posted during the day if anything is up - you have to just love New England weather (or do you????)!
  • PTO Meeting:  We have a PTO meeting scheduled for Monday night (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. Please consider joining us as we plan for our Spring Soiree.
  • Spring Soiree:  Speaking of our Soiree, it is Saturday night!  We are all so excited and have wonderful raffle and auction items.  We are hopoing if you have not planned on coming, you will decide to join us. It is a great night to celebrate the ECC with staff and families.
  • Tuition:  Just a reminder that your April tuition is now due.
  • Happy Birthday:  Well, Vishnu (Miss Courtney) holds the only honor this week for birthdays. Happy 5th birthday Vishnu - have a great day!!!
  • Baby Connor has arrived: We are very excited to share the news that Miss Abby had her new son, Connor, on April Fools Day. Both mom and Connor are doing great! Congratulations to the Toomey family, especially big brother Jacob!
  • Cooties:  We have several children who are really battling fevers and/or respiratory illnesses. The poor little things - it really lingers on!  Only an isolated case of the "dreaded belly bug" here and there but watch for the colds and fevers. We appreciate you all keeping them home until they are medication and fever/GI symptom free for 24 hours.
  • NO Early Release:  There is NO early release on Wednesday - just a typical week!
  • NAPAC:  NAPAC is a parent group for those with children on an IEP or 504 plan. For more information on the following or any other local events, visit our new web site at http//:NorthAndoverPAC.com or visit us on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/NorthAndoverPACEmail us at: Northandoverpac@gmail.com

Please join NAPAC at our next meeting on Tuesday,  April 5th at 9:00 AM at Central Office. Special Education Director Leigh Ann Carbone is scheduled to attend. Training for the Learning Disabilities unit of Understanding Our Differences will be offered beginning at 9:30 AM. Volunteers are needed for this exciting program. Please email for more information or just plan to join us then.
Well I think this wraps it up for a tired Monday morning.  Have  a great day and a great week - be safe today and if you are wondering if there is school or not, use your best judgement.

Dear Friends -

Happy Monday!  How was your spring weekend?  For those who celebrated Easter, I hope it was a nice family weekend for all of you.  My weekend was busy, busy!  We had our first puppy "class" and the puppies were just so cute all together!  We all really enjoyed it and did learn a lot already. My Easter was nice with my family.  It's kind of sad that my nieces and nephews are now all to old for Easter egg hunts. I learned the hard way when the last hunt I did, my "brother" (a friend who is like my brother) and I ended up hunting for most of the eggs!  Instead my 3 youngest nieces and nephew just disappeared with their electronics.  Well, there is always Susie Q!  Joanne loves the holidays - she will always have a belief in Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, tooth fairy, etc.  It makes the holidays extra special with her!  I also heard from my niece in CA - she Facetimed us and is coming home for a long weekend (for a fundraiser in memory of my nephew).  Of course she also asked Joanne on a Friendly's date - she is just the sweetest!!!  Well, that was my busy weekend - so here are just a few tidbits for a tired Monday (I hope they make sense!):
  • Happy Birthday:  Yikes, am I missing someone???  I don't have any friends having a birthday this week. If I missed your child's birthday this week let me know - I might not be thinking clearly due to a sugar withdrawal!!!
  • Welcome:  We want to welcome Brody to Miss Kaitlin's morning class this week.  We know Brody and his family will have a wonderful experience!
  • Open House: I am having an open house on Wednesday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for the general public and our waiting list so they can peek at our beautiful building.  Spread the word!  This is not for our current children - that will be held in May.
  • Spring Soiree:  Stay tuned for an update on our last minute needs tomorrow but in the meantime, let's get our ticket sales up to 100 - send in your RSVP's so we can boost up our sales.  Also, are you a baker???  We still need just a few more people to help us with desserts. If you can bake but cannot be at the event, you can drop off your baked good at the ECC (I promise not to eat it!).  The link to sign up for a baked good is:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f054fadaf2fa6fa7-spring
  • PTO Meeting:  Just a reminder that our next PTO meeting is Monday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, March 28th at 10:30 AM at Central Office Leigh Ann Carbone will present "Basic Rights in Special Education" along with an opportunity to meet the town's ETL's. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this very important annual presentation.

  • Cooties:  So, it seems as though the colds, fevers, coughs and runny noses are the big cooties from last week. Some may be allergies so it's sometimes tough to know.  We have heard that some of the fevers hang in there for a few days so be patient, there is sunshine at the end of your tunnel!!!
  • Lockdown Drills:  So on occasion, we join the rest of the school system in practicing lockdown drills. You may hear your children talk about practicing and some of what goes with it. We purposely do not make a lot out of them because at this age, it is up to us as adults to lead the way for the children and not get them scared about what we do. So we read "social stories" about the drill and then we practice them with the NA Police. According to Officer Kara, we are one of the best schools with our drills - woohoo!  We will be having another one this week but we won't be giving too much information because we of course want the staff and children to always be ready. So if your children do talk about it, please do not make a lot out of it at this age.  You can just tell them that you heard they did a great job and you are proud of them. Please do not go into specifics about why we do them, as your children are just too young.
  • Tuition: Just a friendly reminder that your April tuition is due on Friday of this week. Thanks!
  • Upcoming Events:  If you are wondering about any upcoming events, you can check out our website and you will see all events coming up through May.
  • Early Release:  There is NO early release this week!
  • Twitter:  I am trying hard to capture brief moments of time for our Twitter feed.  You can check out my photos and news w/o even having a Twitter account.  Just pop onto our website and the feed runs right on the front page:  www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool

OK I think that just about wraps things up for a Monday morning.  Enjoy your week ahead and I'll be back tomorrow with a Spring Soiree update!!

March 21, 2016

Good Morning Friends,

Happy Spring!  Crazy to be welcoming spring with snow in the forecast!  Well the good news is it will melt quickly!  Did you all enjoy your weekend?  We had a quiet weekend. I was teaching Joanne to train Susie Q - she was really cute!  Speaking of Joanne, today is "World Down Syndrome Day".  For those of you who do not know, my sister Joanne has Down Syndrome and my mother and I care for her. Joanne is totally the inspiration for what I do every day. She is such a joy to our family and is such a gift. On our toughest days, Joanne is our ray of sunshine. So today our family celebrates Down Syndrome Day. When I told Joanne what it was again and asked her what it meant, she simply said "it means I am special."  She is clearly not special on just this day but every day! Thank you for letting me share this with you, as she really does inspire me to do whatever I can for each and every one of the children who walk into the ECC!

OK, now on to our tidbits:

  • Welcome:  A big welcome to Eva in Miss Kim's class today. We hope Eva and her family have a great experience with us at the ECC.  Welcome back to Ariz!  Ariz took a sabbatical and is now back at the ECC - he will be in Miss Laurie's AM session for the remainder of this school year.
  • NA Kindergarten 2016-17:  I need all parents of children who are going to kindergarten to do me a favor.  If you are NOT planning on sending your child to the NA Public Schools kindergarten in the fall of 2016, can you please e-mail me as soon as possible.  Thanks!
  • Happy Birthday:  We have three birthday children this week. Happy Birthday wishes go out to Isabella A. (Miss Abby), Nathaniel M. (Miss Laurie/AM) and Michael W. (Miss Kaitlin/PM).  We wish them all very Happy Birthday wishes this week!!!
  • Soiree:  Just a reminder that your RSVP's are due for the Spring Soiree.  This will be a fun night for parents and staff to celebrate the ECC and raise money for the school!
  • Early Release:  Just a reminder that Wednesday IS an early release day.  No worries, you'll get the regular "robo-call".
  • Cooties:  Yikes, that cold, fever and/or runny nose sure is all around. Last week was a bit better than the week before but our poor little friends have been coughing and sneezing their days away!  We still have had only a few of the belly bugs around so let's continue to hope for the best!
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your March tuition is now overdue. It is important that if you are behind in your tuition, you contact Chris and if needed, talk about a payment plan.  Thank you!
  • NAPAC:  As you know from my previous e-mails, LeighAnn Carbone will be retiring from Special Education Director in June. We have been interviewing candidates to be the new "Director of Student Services" and we have two finalists. If you would like to join NAPAC in meeting the finalists, you can do so at a coffee on Tuesday from 8:30 - 9:00 for the first candidate and 2:15 - 2:45 for the second candidate. The coffee/get together will be at Central Office. NAPAC would love for you to join them, even if you can just make one of the visits.
  • Supt. Snow Day Challenge:  OK, so let's bring the snow day challenge reward to the ECC this time.  Follow this link to see her challenge for today's snow day:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gtke06LW2MUZCBjSMPwhoY155ZclklPZDjwdUmQUYJM/edit

OK I think that just about wraps it up for this snow day!  Enjoy the day off, build your snowmen for the snow day challenge, and be safe!  See you all tomorrow!

Good Morning Friends -

I hope your weekend was lots of fun with the beautiful weather.  Did you all adjust to the lost hour - I bet the kids will be a big off today.  My weekend was quiet - just a lot of catching up on life. I did get to enjoy some fresh air with doggie walks but otherwise, focused on house and work "stuff"!  I know, exciting - right!!   It's going to be a busy week ahead so here are some tidbits for you:

  • Kindergarten Information Night:  Just a reminder that the Kindergarten information night is tonight, Monday, at 6:30 at the high school. If your child is moving on to kindergarten, you should plan on attending.
  • NO Early Release:  This is a "NO EARLY RELEASE" week.  We are on a regular schedule.
  • Happy Birthday:  We have several birthdays to celebrate this week.  Happy Birthday wishes go out to Ethan K. (Miss Courtney), Alex C. (Miss Jill), Raphael (Miss Kaitlin/AM) and Zakaria (Miss Kaitlin/AM). Happy Birthday to all of you- enjoy your special days!!
  • Tuition:  Just a reminder that your March tuition is now due.
  • Best Wishes: We want to wish Miss Abby good luck as she prepares for the arrival of her new son. Abby's last day will be on Friday.  Miss Kim Gordonsmith will be taking Abby's place in her classroom.  We will keep you posted on when baby Toomey arrives!
  • Special Education Director:  You may or may not have heard but our Special Education Director, Leigh Ann Carbone, is retiring at the end of this year. I am currently serving on the search committee for a new "Director of Student Services" for NA. The reason I share this is next week, our finalists will be in the district and during one of their sessions, they will be meeting with any parents who would like to meet them. I will keep you posted as the details are determined.
  • Stevens Memorial Library Movie for ECC:  We are very excited to once again work with the Stevens Library and have a movie for the families of the ECC!  Save your Friday afternoon and join the ECC families to watch the movie "The Lorax".  They will even have light refreshments for the children. I'll send home a sign up sheet as soon as the details are final but save the date!
  • Cooties:  So, for the most part we have had colds, fevers and/or coughs.  Some of the cooties are lingering so just be on the lookout and give your children the rest they need if they are sick.  We have had just a few of the "dreaded belly bugs" around.
  • Green Day:  Let's all be a little Irish on Thursday and wear green!!!

OK I think that's it - short tidbits for this week!  Enjoy your week and stay dry!!

Thanks all -

March 7, 2016

Dear Friends -

Happy Monday!  Did you all enjoy the weekend?  I am actually looking forward to warmer weather. I think I can honestly say I have spring fever!  My weekend was quiet - nothing exciting to report. I think the panic of spring transition is hitting me so I was trying to get some thoughts organized with children coming and going. Lots of exciting times coming up for our friends.

I have a few tidbits for this week:
  • Happy Birthday:  We actually only have one little friend who has a birthday this week. Happy Birthday wishes go out to Andon (Miss Jill).  We hope Andon enjoys his special birthday week!  Happy Birthday Andon!!
  • Early Release:  Just a reminder that Wednesday IS an early release day.  If you want something to look forward to this week, you can look forward to my robo-call on Tuesday!
  • Late Pick Ups:  We are having an increase in parents/guardians/friends/etc. who are picking up their children late for dismissal. This is an impact on our overall staffing so please plan accordingly and be on time for dismissal.  Believe me, we know things come up and we have no problem with those situations.
  • PTO Meeting:  We have a PTO meeting tonight (Monday) at 7:00 p.m.  Please try to join us and meet some new friends and get involved at the ECC. We try to limit the meeting to just an hour.
  • Spring Soiree:  Just a reminder that we would love to have your RSVP's for our upcoming Spring Soiree.  In addition, if you have access to sports tickets, weekend get aways, concert tickets, gift cards, etc. we would love your help for our raffles, auctions, etc.  We appreciate any and all help!!!!
  • Kindergarten Information Night:  Just a reminder that kindergarten information night is Monday, March 14th at 6:30 p.m.  If you have a child going to kindergarten in the fall of 2016, you should attend and gather information on the kindergarten programs and process.
  • Tuition:  Just a reminder that your March tuition is now due.
  • Cooties:  Ugghhhhhh, the dreaded belly bug has been loose at the ECC again - both our little and big friends are being hit with it so please be on the lookout!  If your child has GI symptoms, they should remain home until they are 24 hours free of any vomiting and/or diarrhea.  We appreciate you helping us "contain the cooties"!
  • Great Resource:  Every now and then we find a great resource to share with everyone. This one is from Sesame Street (some of us oldies but goodies grew up watching this and to this day, Joanne still loves the muppets from Sesame Street).  Anyway, this is a resource that has learning games, social stories, help with children's daily routines (such as toothbrushing), etc.  Check it out and see how you can use it with your little ones:  http://autism.sesamestreet.org/  This is a great resource for all parents of young children!
  • Spring Soiree Baskets:  Sorry, one more note on the Spring Soiree.  One of the big draws to our Soiree is the class baskets.  We need your help - some of the baskets are in need of donations. If you have misplaced my e-mail with the "sign up genius" list, let me know and I'll resend it. Let's make these baskets the biggest and best ever!!!
Well that' wraps it up for a chilly Monday morning. Please remember to dress your children warm with coats, hats, mittens, etc. It is not that warm out yet and the playground tends to be a bit more chilly and windy. We do want the children to get out so please dress them for a cold day.  Thanks!

Enjoy the week my friends - I'll be back to "robo-call" you tomorrow!!

February 29, 2016

Dear Friends -

How are you all doing?  Did you enjoy the weekend - the weather just continues to cooperate - yeah! My weekend was good. Susie Q had her first "training" and the trainer said she was "super smart".  You don't think  he says that to everyone do you - lol!  We also had a nice unexpected visit from family from Sturbridge so that was nice! Otherwise, things are getting busy with transitions so it was busy getting my ducks in a row for work.

Here are some tidbits for this week:
  • Sad Goodbye:  This week we have to say a sad goodbye to one of our families who are moving.  We wish Kyle and his family good luck as they begin a new and exciting journey in their new house - we hope they love their new house and new school.  We will miss all of them and we hope they will visit us!!!
  • Happy Birthday:  We want to wish a happy birthday to Shansitaa (Miss Courtney), Brooke B. (Miss Allyson), Iris (Miss Laurie/PM), and Kayla (Miss Kaitlin).  Lots of fun birthdays - enjoy my friends and happy birthday!!!
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your March tuition is due on Friday.  Thanks!
  • PTO Meeting:  Reminder we have a PTO meeting on Monday, March 7th at 7:00 p.m. Come on and join us and meet some new friends!
  • Kindergarten Screening:  Chris will be calling in the next week or so to schedule children for their kindergarten screening.  All children will need to be screened unless you hear from me in the next day or so.
  • NAPAC News:  NAPAC is a parent group for those with children on an IEP or 504 plan. For more information on the following or any other local events, visit our new web site at http//:NorthAndoverPAC.com or visit us on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/NorthAndoverPACEmail us at: Northandoverpac@gmail.com
Please join NAPAC at our next meeting on Tuesday, March 1st at 9:00 AM at Central Office. School Committee Candidates Amy Mabley and Cathy Koch are scheduled to attend and will answer questions. Special Education Director Leigh Ann Carbone is also scheduled to attend. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this special meeting.
Join NAPAC on Saturday, March 5th at 2:00 PM for an afternoon of bowling at Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury. A fun event for the whole family. All are welcome. Please RSVP to NorthAndoverPac@gmail.com if you plan to join us!
  • Cooties:  Last week brought a few colds, fevers and isolated belly bugs - but overall the children had a healthy first week back. With lots of potential fresh air this week, we'll hopefully knock those cooties right out of the building.
  • Outdoor Play:  Speaking of outdoors, we will definitely be getting fresh air this week. Please remember it is still cool out and the playground tends to be cooler w/a wind. Please dress your children appropriately and in layers.  Thanks!
OK so I think that wraps it up for an early Monday morning. Enjoy the almost 60 degree weather and we'll be back in touch!

February 22, 2016

Good Morning Friends -

Happy Monday and welcome back!  Did you all enjoy the past week - did anyone go anywhere exciting? It sure did end off with great weather. I even got to take Susie Q out for our first walk together. And....she had her vet appt. and she is a whopping 4.2 lbs. Who would have thought?!  My week was good overall - I did work all week but of course it is a different pace and I got a lot done. I did enjoy a long weekend though and overall, all was good!

Here are this week's tidbits:
  • Welcome:  Let me send a very warm welcome to 3 new students today.  A big welcome to Ryann (Miss Kaitlin/PM), Liam Y. (Miss Laurie/PM) and Courtney (Miss Abby)!  We know all three children and their families will have a great experience here at the ECC!  Welcome friends!
  • Kindergarten Screening Appts.:  Don't panic!!!  Because your child attends the ECC, you get a fast pass through a lot of the kindergarten registration process, including getting your screening appointments.  Chris or Stacey will be calling you to schedule an appointment for your child's screening. All children going to K will need to be screened unless I notify you directly otherwise.
  • Kindergarten Information Night:  It is very important that if you have a child going to K, you attend the Kindergarten Information night on Monday, March 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the high school.
  • Tuition:  It is very important that if you have a balance for your tuition that you contact Chris or myself as soon as possible. A balance in your tuition for the next school year could impact your child's enrollment at the ECC in the fall or in Community Program offerings next year in kindergarten.  Thank you so much!
  • Early Release:  Wednesday IS an early release day. I will robo-call and e-mail you tomorrow to remind you.
  • Happy Birthday:  First let me apologize - I think I may have missed Hope's birthday last week. If so, a very happy birthday to our friend Hope (Miss Sheri) - if I didn't miss you, then you get an extra special "extra" birthday wish.  Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Sabrina (Miss Allyson), Liam Y. (Miss Laurie/PM), and Zoe (Miss Kaitlin/AM).  We wish you all a very special birthday day!
  • Cooties:  Well, hopefully all of the cooties escaped the building during vacation and do not return. Let's keep our fingers crossed that all of our friends come back healthy today!
  • Next Year:  If you received an e-mail from me on Friday asking what your intentions are for the next school year as far as if your child is returning to the ECC or not (I did not send this e-mail to K children or children on IEP's), please take a second to just let me know if your child will be returning or not and if your preference is AM or PM.  Thanks!
OK I think I'll be short and sweet on day one back (I know, shocking right!).  Have a great day and we'll look forward to seeing your little ones shortly.  Remember, the children WILL go out so please dress them warm - our playground tends to be a bit chilly!!!

Thanks -

February 8, 2016

Dear Friends -

How are you all doing? Can you believe we are on day two of snow days! This was a tough call for Supts. but safety of your children is always their first priority. I hope you were all able to do the Superintendent's Snow Day challenge - I think the troops would LOVE pillowcases from our little ones. How special would that be. If you did participate, please send it in on the first day back at school from these snow days. Let's hope as I type this, we are back in session tomorrow, Tuesday.  Stay tuned!  Here are this week's tidbits:
  • Happy Birthday:  Well I'm going to wish our two birthday girls a Happy Birthday now since we won't be in school next week. Happy Birthday to Lily T. (Miss Allyson) and Kara (Miss Lauren). We hope you both have really fun birthdays.  Happy Birthday friends!
  • Early Dismissal:  Please note that we DO have early release on Wednesday.
  • Website:  I try to keep the front page of the website updated for all of you, including upcoming dates.  If you are wondering about a date for something, check out www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool.
  • Dress for Snow:  We are going to try to get the children outside to enjoy the snow this week so please remember warm coats, hats, mittens, boots and snowpants. If you are in need of any of these items, just let me know and we'll be able to help you out.
  • Valentine Cards:  As mentioned last week, please remember that due to the wellness policy in North Andover, we cannot distribute any cards that have candy or any other edibles attached to them.  Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Spring Soiree:  Please save the date for our Spring Soiree on April 9th.  The plans are really coming together - it should be a fabulous night - look for your invite this week in your children's bag.
  • Vacation:  Just a reminder that we are on winter vacation from February 15th through the 19th.  All schools will be closed!
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your February tuition is now due.  Thanks!
  • Cooties:  I bet you were wishing there were no cooties this week!  Well, not so bad - very isolated cases of the dreaded belly bug but more colds with and without fevers are still hanging around. Overall not too bad!
  • Robo-calls:  If you are not receiving the Supt.'s robo call or my early release reminder robo-call, please let me know so we can check your numbers. Also, if you change your e-mails, let me know so I can change it in my contact lists.
OK I think that wraps it up for a snowy Monday!  Be safe and warm and hopefully we'll see you all tomorrow.

Thanks!

February 1, 2016

Dear Friends -

Well, how about that weather now!  It sure is nice to see a spring like week ahead. The children will just love being outside to play. Did you all enjoy your weekend?  My weekend was somewhat quiet. I got hit with the good 'ole "dreaded belly bug" (although a small part of me wonders if it was food poisoning) so I hopefully have that behind me now!  It wasn't as bad as many are getting it so I should not really complain! We also gave Susie Q her first official playdate with my niece's little dog. Neither dog wanted anything to do with each other - it was actually comical! She is really just the cutest little thing! We are just loving her. Well, I hope you enjoy the week ahead - here are this week's tidbits:
  • THANK YOU:  On behalf of the PTO and the ECC staff, we want to thank all of you for supporting our fundraiser at the Chama Grill yesterday. They have been so supportive of our program so we hope you will continue to visit them!
  • Welcome Back:  We want to welcome back Aadhavv and his family to our program. For the rest of the year, he will be enrolled in Miss Jill's room. We are quite sure he will enjoy being back with his ECC family.
  • Welcome:  We also want to welcome Jacob W. and his family to Miss Allyson's class. Jacob will be visiting on Tuesday and will probably start school right after that.
  • PTO:  Just a reminder that we have a PTO meeting tonight, Monday, at 7:00 p.m. here at the ECC. Please consider joining us for about an hour.
  • NO EARLY RELEASE:  There is NO early release this week.
  • Cooties:  Well, as you know the belly bug is definitely still kicking around. We also have had a few cases of strept throat, fevers, coughs, and colds that just don't want to quit. We thank you for keeping your children home for 24 hours medication/symptom free in order for us to contain those nasty cooties!
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your February tuition is due on Friday of this week. Thanks!
  • Happy Birthday:  A very happy birthday to Meegan L. in Miss Laurie's AM class. She is our only birthday girl this week.  We do want to also wish Ryann B. a happy birthday - Ryann will soon be enrolled in Miss Kaitlin's PM class - Happy Birthday to both of our friends - enjoy your special days!
  • Valentine's Party:  You will be hearing from your classroom teachers about Valentine parties.  Please remember that when you choose your cards, please refrain from sending in anything with food of any type. North Andover has a strict food policy and does not allow for food items of any type to be shared. Unfortunately if candy does come in with cards, we will have to send the candy back home but we will let the cards be shared.  Thanks!
Well I think this wraps up the news for this week.  Stay healthy and enjoy the spring weather. Good week to let the children get outside to play!!!

Thanks all -
ML

Good Morning Friends -

Well, the Patriots gave it a good shot right?  Ok, so maybe and maybe not - BUT, our children sure did look cute on Patriots day!  Sorry for all of the die-hard Patriots fans out there - but I did hear only 18 more days until pitchers/catchers show up for spring season!  Other than sports, how was your weekend?  Mine was quiet - we had our first follow up vet appointment for our Susie Q and that was good. She is a whole 2 1/2 pounds now!!  I think I have eaten an ice cream cone bigger than that!  I did get some school work done as well. Things are cranking up around here. We have several new children starting in the weeks to come.  Well, here are this week's tidbits:
  • Welcome:  Today we want to welcome Sathvika and her family to Miss Lauren's class. We are quite sure Sathvika will love her new school and class.
  • Lost/Found:  We are starting to accumulate our yearly collection of hats, mittens, gloves, etc. in the office.  If you are missing any of your children's items, just send me and e-mail and let me know what you are missing and we'll see what we have.
  • Kindergarten Information Night/Screening:  Well if any of you are "planners" like me, you want to know upcoming dates so this is NOT meant to stress you - just to help you plan.  Kindergarten information night is Monday, March 14th at 6:30 at the high school. This is an important night for all parents who have children moving on to kindergarten. In addition, kindergarten screening dates will be May 26th and May 27th. Chris will be calling you to schedule dates/times after kindergarten information night.
  • Cooties:  OK so let me see what cooties were in our collection last week - we had one or two isolated cases of strept throat, lots of colds with and without fevers, and a couple of dreaded belly bugs!  That strange little fever virus is still kicking around so be on the lookout - unfortunately the fever hangs in there for a bit. Maybe this week our friends can get outside and get rid of those cooties!
  • PTO:  Our next PTO meeting will be on Monday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. We have exciting things going on in the PTO so I hope you can join us.
  • NAPAC:  The North Andover Parent Advisory Committee supports parents of children with special needs. They have a couple of things coming up.  Tuesday, January 26, 2016-9:00 AM- Please join NAPAC for it's monthly meeting. Director of Special Education, Leigh Ann Carbone is scheduled to attend. A very special training on Autism, from the "Understanding Our Differences" program to be held at Franklin School on 2/2/16, will also be held. Volunteers are still needed for this program. All are welcome and encouraged to come and learn more about this exciting event.
Saturday, January 30, 2016- 6:00 PM -Please join NAPAC for a fun family Night Out at Fuddrucker's on Turnpike St., North Andover. Come join us and have a good time while parents and kids connect over dinner. All are welcome and new members are especially encouraged to come and meet new friends. Please email with any questions. We hope to see you there
  • Happy Birthday:  We want to wish Amy W. (Miss Allyson), Mia (Miss Laurie/AM), and Lilly D. (Miss Kaitlin/PM) very happy birthdays. We hope you all enjoy your special days. Happy Birthday my friends!!!
  • Chama Grill Fundraiser:  We are excited to be having a fundraiser at the Chama Grill on Sunday, January 31st from 1:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Please think about stopping in for lunch or dinner.  And yes, they have great children's items as well!  We will get a percentage of all sales for our ECC.  Thanks!
  • Early Release:  Wednesday IS an early release day.  I will call and e-mail you to remind both the AM and PM classes of the changes.
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your January tuition is now overdue. Please be sure you connect with Chris if you have a balance of tuition.  Thanks!
OK so my hands are pretty much frozen trying to type (this school takes a long time to heat up on a Monday morning!!!) so I think this pretty much wraps up the week ahead.  For our new parents, please remember that your class newsletter/lesson plan is the link below so please click on it and read your specific information for your child's class.

Have a great week and GO CELTICS and BRUINS!!

Thanks!

January 19, 2016

Good Morning Friends -

Did you all enjoy your long weekend? I hope so! Yesterday sure was windy and chilly - yikes! At least it wasn't a school day where we could have been delayed. My weekend was quiet - basically it was a paperwork weekend and "puppy world".  Susie Q is doing great and is just the cutest - I did do some "puppy bootcamp" with just a little bit of attempting to train her to "sit".  Joanne is excited because she thinks she has taught her to "jump" and "beg".  She is too funny!

Well it is a short week so we have short tidbits - here we go:
  • Welcome:  We want to welcome Mia to Miss Laurie's AM class on Wednesday. We are excited to have Mia's family once again, as her sister also attended our program years ago! Welcome Mia and family!
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your January tuition is now due. We are asking if you have a significant balance at this time, please connect with Chris or myself to develop a payment plan. As you can imagine, June now comes quickly and we want to make sure you do not get so behind that you have an extensive balance at the end of the school  year. Thank you!
  • Happy Birthday:  Well unless I am missing someone, I don't think we have any birthdays this week ahead- but please let me know if I missed your child. So, since there are no birthdays in program, a big happy birthday if it is your special day!!!
  • NO Early Release:  Please note that there is NO early release this week.
  • Cooties:  Well, yes the "dreaded belly bug" is definitely around our school and everywhere else. However, I think we are working hard to contain it wherever possible. So, thank you for being overly cautious and keeping your children home if you suspect they do have symptoms or potential symptoms.  In addition, there have been children out with colds, coughs and fevers.
  • PTO:  We have several exciting happenings with our ECC PTO so I will be sharing a special PTO e-mail today or tomorrow.
  • Twitter Feed/Webpage:  I am trying to put more quick photos of activities the children are doing on our Twitter feed. You do not have to have a Twitter account (although I would LOVE more followers).  You just have to open our ECC webpage and the Twitter feed is right on the front page.  Just go to:  www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool.
  • COLD!!!:  As you know, the weather is going to be VERY cold this week.  Please be sure your children have coats, hats and mittens on upon arrival. We cannot go outside to play of course but the walk in to the school is cold for our little ones. If you are in need of winter clothing for your child, please let me know.  Thanks!
  • N.E. Patriots:  OK so sometimes I can be superstitious - can you?  So, because I believe it was our little ones dressed up so cute that brought the Patriots their win, I think we should do it all over again on Thursday.  So, dress them in cute Patriots gear or of course just the colors.
  • Sick Calls:  Please remember if your child is not going to be in school, we ask that you do call us - otherwise you will get a call from us.  We do try to track the cooties but we also do this for safety.  Our answering machine is on 24 hours a day so you can always just leave a message.
Well I think this wraps it up for this morning. I'll see you all this morning out in the drop off line - I'll be the popsicle standing there - have I said lately how much I dislike winter and cold - hmmmm, there it is if I haven't (although if I am home and snowed in I'm ok!).  Have a great week ahead my friends!

January 11, 2016

Dear Friends -

Wow, did you all survive the crazy rainy/windy day yesterday! It was a relaxing day for me to just get some paperwork done as things get busy around here. My weekend overall was quiet. We all enjoyed our new puppy very much - she's a cutie!

So, things are hopping around the ECC - here are this week's tidbits:
  • Happy Birthday:  Let me start by apologizing for all of our birthday children from last week. I totally forgot to include our happy birthdays so here are two week's worth - happy birthday wishes go out to Jason L. (Miss Allyson), Ashar (Miss Jill), Alejandro P. (Miss Laurie/AM), Ryan P. (Miss Jill), Caroline (Miss Lauren), Olivia J. (Miss Sheri), and Ryan B. (Miss Courtney).  Wow - have fun birthdays my friends!!
  • PTO:  We have a PTO meeting tonight (Monday) at 7:00 right here at the ECC.  We have some exciting things coming up so please consider joining us!
  • NO SCHOOL:  Very important - please note that there is no school on Friday, January 15th (professional development day) and on Monday, January 18th (Martin Luther King Dy.).
  • N.E. Patriots Dy.:  Let's cheer the Patriots on by having a New England Patriots day on Thursday. Dress your children in your favorite Patriots gear or the colors and bring them all good luck!
  • Cooties:  The dreaded belly bug is definitely around!  PLEASE be sure your children are feeling well and if they do have any of the GI symptoms of this "cootie", they must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. A few of our little friends also still have that fever that was kicking around. We are working hard on keeping the building healthy.
  • Save the Date:  The PTO/ECC's big fundraiser is set for Saturday, April 9th at the VFW.  This is a great time and it is referred to as our "ECC Spring Soiree" - I hope you all save the date and join the staff and other parents/friends. Much more information will follow!
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your January tuition is now due.  If you have an outstanding balance please give Chris a call to make payment arrangements. Thanks!
  • Car Pool:  We have a parent who lives in Royal Crest Apts. who is looking to see if someone would like to carpool. Her child is in the morning class so she is having trouble getting her child to school on time. She is able to pick up on time at 11:15 though. Is there someone who might be able to help out this lovely family - she needs someone to pick up her child for an 8:45 a.m. start (AM session).  Thanks!
  • Carseats:  The children are doing much better remaining in their carseats/seatbelts until you pull up to the drop off area.  I have been popping into classes praising them for doing this so please remember on your end to keep the children safely secured until staff come to take them out of the car.
  • Early Release:  Please note that there is NO early release on Wednesday!
  • Newsletter Attached:  Don't forget your teacher's newsletter/lesson plan is attached to this e-mail so please open it for important information each week!
Well I think this wraps it up for this morning.  Please remember there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, January 15th or Monday, January 18th.  I hope you have a great Monday and week ahead - I will be back with a "social media" and PTO e-mail in another day or two!  Don't forget to join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. for our PTO meeting.

January 4, 2016

Dear Friends -

Happy New Year!  Did you all enjoy your holiday break? I wish all of you the very best of health and happiness in 2016!

We have a few short tidbits for week one of 2016:
  • Welcome:  Wow it is an exciting day for us! We are welcoming four new children to our program today.  Welcome to Alejandro (Miss Laurie/AM), Olivia (Miss Sheri), Elias (Miss Jill), and Zoe (Miss Kaitlin/AM).  We are so excited to have all of them and their families join the ECC family!!
  • BRRRRR!:  Please note that the weather is really getting cold so please dress your children accordingly. Some of our little friends still do not have heavy coats, hats, and mittens so please remember to have them wear them. Even if we don't go out because it is too icy, they children still get cold going in and out of the building. If you are in need of winter clothing for your child, please let me know and I will see what I can do.
  • THANK YOU:  I am so sorry I have not sent out thank you notes for all of the wonderful gifts of love I received. Unfortunately the vacation has been a bit crazier than expected and I am somewhat behind life!  Thank you for every special gift that was given to me - the best gift I ever could receive is being given the opportunity of having this wonderful position where I get to work with the best staff, best families and the BEST little friends ever!!!
  • Early Release:  We have an early release scheduled for Wednesday, January 6th. I will e-mail you and robo-call you tomorrow (did you miss my robo-calls during break?).
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your January tuition will be due in to Chris on Friday of this week. Thanks!
  • PTO:  For our new parents, we have a wonderful PTO here at the ECC and we would love for you to come to a meeting and meet an amazing group of parents of preschoolers!  Our next meeting is Monday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. right here at the ECC. It is such a wonderful way to meet other families.
  • Cooties:  Well, of course I do not know what little cooties got loose during break so for today, there is no cootie report!  Hopefully all of your little ones remained healthy over the vacation!
Well for the first week back, these are the major tidbits!  For all of our new families, again welcome to you all!

Thank you all and again, Happy New Year!!!

December 14, 2015

Good Morning Friends -

How are you all doing? I hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend started off with our staff gathering at my house for a holiday party. It was such a great time and so nice to see everyone together and just having fun! Otherwise, I did a bit of shopping, wrapping and of course, schoolwork! I am actually in good shape for the holidays so far and pretty caught up with work. Our big news is I am getting my mom and Joanne a puppy for Christmas so we have been busy "preparing"!  We are so excited - Joanne has decided her name will be "Susie" and she is determined that this will be the name. We are getting a "cavapoo" so it will be a little one!  Stay tuned as I am sure I will have much more to share!!!  Now for this week's tidbits:
  • Early Release:  You guessed it - Wednesday is "Wacky Wednesday" so it is an early release day.  I will robo-call you Tuesday afternoon.
  • Happy Birthday:  Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Lucca (Miss Abby) and Mason (Miss Kelsey). We hope they both enjoy their very special December birthdays.  Happy Birthday to both of you!
  • Car Pool:  We have a parent looking for a car pool in our morning session. She is willing to drive home but could use a ride to school for her daughter. They live at Royal Crest.  Thanks.
  • December Break:  Just in case you were wondering, our last day before the holiday break will be on Wednesday, December 23rd. This is a full day for the children.  The children return from break on Monday, January 4th.
  • Cooties:  The cold, cough, and fever virus continues to plague our little ones. The fever appears to be viral and comes and goes but appears to last a few days. Please be sure your children are fever/symptom free for 24 hours w/o medication prior to sending them back to school. In addition, there continues to be a little of the "dreaded belly bug" kicking around. Be on the lookout!
  • Dr. Price visiting:  Dr. Price (our Supt. of Schools) will be visiting our program again this morning. If you see her out directing traffic, give her a quick wave!
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your December tuition is now overdue. Please contact Chris if you are not sure of your outstanding balance. Please try to take care of your balance by the time we leave for the holiday break or at least contact Chris to make payment arrangements.
Well believe it or not, that is it for this week. I hope you all have a great week ahead! Please remember to keep your children's schedule as consistent as possible during these days of rushing around. Not only will it help your children but it will greatly help you as parents!

Thank you!

December 7, 2015

Good Morning Friends -

How are you all doing?  I hope you all had a great weekend, especially given the beautiful weather! It's hard to believe it's December and the weather is so nice - but then again, if my memory is correct, we said this last winter as well. My weekend was quiet. I just got a bit of shopping and a bit of work done.  So, that's the scoop here - and here are the tidbits for this week:
  • Welcome:  I want to start our "tidbits" this week by welcoming two new families to our program. A big welcome to Aarnav and Jaxson and their families.  We are quite sure both children and their families will enjoy their new programs!
  • Happy Birthday:  Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Evelyn (Miss Allyson), Noah S. (Miss Jill), and Chris K. (Miss Kelsey).  We hope they all have wonderful birthday celebrations. Happy Birthday friends!
  • Holiday Gifts:  Several parents have asked about gifts for the staff. Although we are constantly overwhelmed by everyone's generosity, being able to touch your children's lives in the way we can is a gift enough for our staff.  Please do not feel obligated at all to send in holiday gifts but instead, even a cute hand drawn picture is special enough!
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your December tuition is now due. It is important to touch base with Chris if you are behind in your tuition payments. We have several overdue accounts and as you can imagine, it adds up quickly so we want you to be sure you connect with Chris to get on an alternative payment plan if needed. Thanks!
  • School Pictures:  Just a reminder that Tuesday is absentee/make up picture day. We have several new children so you will need to complete a picture envelope for Tuesday. If you would like a retake, please send in your original picture and then we will know to retake.
  • NO EARLY RELEASE:  Just a reminder that there will be NO early release on Wednesday. It will be a regular week.
  • Teacher's Newsletters:  Please remember that you take a second to open the attachment with your class newsletter/lesson plan for the week - many times there are requests for letter of the week items, show and tell, etc. that you will want your children to be an active part of - I attach this each week to my note.
  • PTO Meeting:  Just a reminder that there is a PTO meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. right here at the ECC.  Please consider joining us and meet other new parents and help our PTO.  Thanks!
  • Cooties:  The colds, fevers, coughs and an occasional belly bug have all kept quite a few of our little ones out of school this past week.  We thank you for keeping your children home when they have been sick and helping us keep a healthier building!  We do remind you to call your child in sick to the office if you are going to keep him/her home for the day.

OK I think that wraps it up here. I hope you all have a great week!  Remember, with all of the holidays approaching, it is best to keep your children on their regular schedule as much as possible. Consistency will help them (and you) get through the holiday rush without overwhelmed and overly active children.

November 30, 2015

Good Morning Friends -

Did you all enjoy your holiday weekend? I had a nice weekend. We had a small Thanksgiving dinner due to some of my siblings traveling here and there. Thanks to today's technology, we were able to Facetime my niece (who is at USC going for her PhD) and then talk to my nephew (in Colorado Springs in the Army). More and more I realize how much military men/women sacrifice for their country - we really do miss him.  Overall though, we are very fortunate to have our family together and be able to enjoy each other's company, even from afar!  Overall, it was a nice restful weekend!
  • Happy Birthday:  Aarush has the sole honors this week. A big happy birthday to Aarush (Miss Lauren) this week.  Enjoy your special day Aarush!
  • Sad Goodbye:  We want to wish Gurusatvik (Miss Laurie/AM) and his family good luck in their new endeavors.  His last day with us will be on Thursday of this week.  We will miss you Gurusatvik!
  • NAPAC:  Just a reminder that there will be a NAPAC meeting on Tuesday, December 1st at 9:00 at Central Office.
  • New Future ECC Students:  We have had several new little ones born to our families in the past few weeks - a big welcome to Ryan, Gavin, Noah, Joaquin, Kieran
  • Early Release:  Just a reminder that Wednesday is early release day. You guessed it - I'll call and e-mail you.
  • PTO:  Please join us once again for our PTO meeting on Monday, December 7th at 7:00 at the ECC.  The more the merrier!
  • Cooties:  Prior to leaving for the long weekend, we had many children out sick with colds and/or fevers. In addition, the "dreaded belly bug" has been around.  We are asking that you please remember that if your child has any GI symptoms and/or a fever, they must be kept home until they are at least 24 hours medication and symptom free. We are going to work very hard at keeping the building healthy for your children.  Many times parents will ask their child if they if they want to go to school or your child will tell you they want to go to school - it is important to remember that you must be the one to make the best decision for your child and for the other children in the program.  Thank you so much!
  • Cold Weather:  It is very important that you dress your children according to the weather.  We do try to have the children go outside whenever the weather permits. They will need boots (when needed), mittens, hats, and warm coats. Our playground gets very cold since it gets late day sun.
  • Photo Re-takes:  Just a reminder that Hockmeyer Photographers will be back on Tuesday, December 8th to do retakes and absentee pictures.  We will provide envelopes to any child who did not get their picture taken in the first place.
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your December tuition will be due on Friday of this week.  Thanks!
  • Smile.Amazon:  As you begin your "cyber-Monday" please remember to use www.smile.amazon and identify N.A. Early Childhood Center as your charity.
OK I think that wraps it up this morning - not sure I can type much more since my fingers are still thawing out - it's cold out there!!!  Enjoy your week ahead and stay warm and healthy!

November 23, 2015

Good Morning Friends

Happy Monday! Brrrrr it's cold out there - be sure to dress your little ones for a cold winter day! What a quick weekend. The highlight of our weekend as going to see the production of Mary Poppins (from Pentucket Players).  It was awesome! It's so nice to go and see such talent right here in our own Merrimack Valley. My niece was in it (she was the toy letter "c" - lol) so it was family event for us. Joanne loved it (we had front row seats) and said her favorite part was seeing Mary Poppins fly! Other than that, all was quiet for me this weekend!

Well, short week so short tidbits:
  • Tuition:  Probably the hardest part of Chris and my job is to follow up on tuition. Unfortunately, it can quickly add up if you get behind so please take a minute to be sure you are up to date with your child's tuition. Please give Chris a call if you are behind and would like your balance or think you may be eligible for financial assistance.  Thank you !
  • Happy Birthday:  A big Happy 4th birthday to Sammy (Miss Laurie/PM) this week.  He has the sole honors here believe it or not.  Enjoy your special day Sammy!!
  • School Pictures:  The make up/absentee date for school pictures is Tuesday, December 8th. Envelopes will come home for absentee photos. If you would like a re-take, you will just need to send your photo back in with your child.
  • Square One:  Thank you so much for your orders!  Thanks to Jane W. and the PTO, Square One was a great success.  Your orders will be here before the holidays (not the Thanksgiving holiday of course)!
  • North Andover Parent Advisory Council:  The next meeting for NAPAC will be on December 1st at 9:00 a.m. in Central Office.  LeighAnn Carbone (Special Education Director) and Steve Nugent (Director of Guidance) will be there.
  • Early Release:  Wednesday is an early release day and there is NO PM preschool due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Children will get out at the typical early release time of 10:35 a.m.
  • Cooties:  The cold that has been going around is a nasty one, as many of you have found out the hard way.  We are asking that you please keep your children home until they are fever and medication free for 24 hours and while they are feeling down and out. This is so we can keep all of the children here at the ECC during this winter season. Please also provide us with appropriate emergency phone numbers so if your child is sick at school with a fever or any other type of illness, he/she can be reached to take your child home. All of our little friends (and big ones) thank you so much for helping us during cold/flu season!
  • PTO Mtg.:  Our next PTO meeting is Monday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m.
OK I promised you short tidbits so I think this is it for now.  I will be back tomorrow with our early release reminders.  Enjoy your Monday and stay warm - remember, dress your children for outside play today - we will always try to play outside weather permitting!

Thank you as always!

November 16, 2015

Good Morning Friends -

So, how about those Patriots!! I truly thought my brother was going to have a heart attack (or he was going to give my mom one from his yelling at the TV!!). Anyway, it was a nice way to end a tough weekend for everyone. We certainly keep all of the people in Paris in our thoughts for sure! Our weekend started off nice with a great movie Friday night thanks to the Stevens Memorial Library! I think the children had a great time!!  My weekend was quiet otherwise. Nothing exciting to report.  I hope yours was more exciting!  So, here's a few tidbits for our week ahead:
  • Early Release:  Just a reminder, Wednesday is a "Wacky Wednesday", meaning it is early release.  I'll remind you on Tuesday of course.
  • Late Pick ups:  We have noticed that there are some children being picked up late several times. It is hard for the children when they are the last one being picked up more than once. We ask that you please schedule your activities, especially with the holidays coming and many things you have to do, so that you are on time for picking up your children.  Thanks!
  • Sports Day:  So, let's have a sports day this week.  How about on Thursday you have your children dress in their favorite sports team - now, no funny stuff with New York fans or anything!  They can wear local teams, professional or just the colors of their favorite team!
  • Picture Re-take:  OK, sorry for the confusion last week.  I was a bit too anxious about telling you about the re-take day - your children's photos are on their way home today. If you would like a re-take or if your child was absent (or new), the retake day is Tuesday, December 8th.
  • Square One:  Thank you so much for your support of our Square One artwork.  As I mentioned yesterday, we will take orders today as well.  The response this year has been awesome.  You all ROCK!!
  • Happy Birthday:  We have two friends who are celebrating birthdays this week.  Happy Birthday to Alex W. (Miss Abby) and Bradley M. (Miss Abby).  We hope you both have great birthdays!
  • Cooties:  Last week we had quite a few children with bad colds with cough, fevers, and general "blahs".  Be on the lookout for it - it's taking the children a bit to get over these colds. If your child is coming down with this nasty cold, it is best to give them time to rest so you can keep symptoms to a minimum.  We had only one or two "belly bugs" but it is definitely out there!  Tis the season!!
  • NAPAC:  The North Andover Parent Advisory Group will be holding their next meeting on Tuesday, December 1st at the new Central Office. Leigh Ann Carbone and the Director of Guidance, Steve Nugent, will be there.
  • Dress for the weather: We are noticing some of your children are not coming in dressed for the cold temperatures we are now having.  Please remember that the children go outside whenever possible so it is very important to have them dress for the weather. It is best to have them dress in layers, but please include hats, mittens, etc.
  • Tuition:  Your November tuition is now due. Please remember if you are having financial difficulties, it is best to contact Chris and just let her know and then we can try to work something out. It is very easy to get behind in tuition payments and have it add up quickly. Thanks.
  • "Germ Etiquette":  BarbaraAnn, our school nurse, has been doing a "germ etiquette" lesson for all of the children in their classes. She will finish up today but you can follow up with good germ control at home. You can talk to the children about what they learned from BarbaraAnn.  Thank you BarbaraAnn for great presentations!
  • Social Media:  OK, so I noticed we only have 215 "likes" on our PTO Facebook page. If you haven't been on it to visit or like, take a peek today.  I KNOW we can get up to at least 250!!  AND, it gets better, my Twitter page (is that what you call it???) ONLY has 65 followers - I am working hard to post quick photos on the page and will continue to work harder at it if we can get at least 100 followers - come on, I know you can do it!!!  Here are the links for both:    https://www.facebook.com/naearlychildhoodcenterpto/?fref=ts   is the Facebook link and  -  https://twitter.com/NA_ECC   and is my Twitter account!  Let's do it!

OK I think that's it for an early Monday morning!  I hope you all have a fabulous week ahead. Thank you so much for all of your support - we are all having a GREAT year!!!

November 9, 2015

Dear Friends -

I hope you all enjoyed your fall weekend!  It looked like it was raining leaves at our house. My weekend was nothing exciting - just running errands, catching up with some shows and getting some paperwork done. Oh, and yes, Joanne talked us into having dinner at the 99. She tried to tell us we were celebrating "Rocky's" birthday - I asked her who Rocky was and she told me he was one of her wrestlers! She will think of any reason to celebrate!!!  Well, here are the tidbits for this short week:
  • Welcome:  I want to officially welcome Gwenevier and her family to Miss Sheri's class. She started in the middle of last week so I missed welcoming her in my last week news.
  • Movie Night: We are so sorry if you missed out on our movie night at the Stevens Memorial Library. We have a waiting list forming so if you signed up and cannot make it, please let us know ASAP so we can open the slot for another child.
  • Happy Birthday: It looks like another quiet week for birthdays in our program. Kyle W. (Miss Allyson's class) has the sole honors this week. A very happy 5th birthday to you Kyle!! Enjoy your special day.
  • Absentee Photos and Re-takes: If your child was not photographed for school pictures or if you felt like you wanted a re-take, the photographers will be back on December 8th. We'll have envelopes available if you are interested.
  • NO SCHOOL: Please make note that there is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 11th due to Veteran's Day.
  • Square One Art: Your children have been working on artwork for you to see and purchase the artwork on various items (such as keychains, bags, potholders, etc.). Look for your children's artwork and catalogue in their backpacks this week.
  • Cooties: Those little rascals have been loose in the ECC lately. We have had a bit of a smorgasbord unfortunately - including the "dreaded belly bug", fevers, colds, strept - uckk....you get the message! We are working hard at keeping your children healthy so we do appreciate you keeping your children home while they are sick. We do ask that you keep them home until they are 24 hours medication/symptom free (symptoms including fever, vomiting, diarrhea). Thank you so much!
  • Fire Drill: The children did a great job during our fire drill last week. This particular one was held in the afternoon so the children attending the PM session would get to practice. All of the children "rocked"!
  • Tuition: Just a gentle reminder that your November tuition is now due. Thanks!
  • Car seats:  There are many children not in car seats in the drop off line. Please spread the word that the children should remain in the carseats until you get to the drop off point. In the past few years we have had fender benders and if your children are not safely in their seats, they can bump their head, face or more serious.  The police are scheduled to join us in the line some time in the near future so they will be stressing this as well.
  • Parent "Workshop" Nights:  Actually I am not sure if "workshop" is the right term but I am interested in having a few nights here and there where I can offer a topic that may interest parents such as language development, behavior, toilet training, or just a parent to parent night of "tips and tricks" for parents of preschoolers.  But, I need your help - I am asking you to fill out this very quick survey and then I can plan appropriately.  Please take a second and look at my survey and just fill out your thoughts - it's a quick multiple choice survey and can be found at:  http://goo.gl/forms/YRkxI9Av3l
Well I think that's about it for a shorter week.  Enjoy your week and don't forget to thank a Veteran this week!!  :)

Dear Friends -

Are you all recovering from your sugar/Halloween overload??  I must say, I overdid it in the sugar department this weekend.  We enjoyed seeing the little ones trick or treating Saturday night. We also had a fair amount of older children as well. Joanne was all about holding the candy bowl and sneaking a piece here and there. I didn't really do too much otherwise this weekend - the time went by really fast. It was hard to flip the calendar to November - can you believe it???

Well, here are our tidbits for this week:
  • PTO Meeting:  Just a reminder that we have a PTO meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. right here at the ECC. Please join us and meet some new friends.
  • Happy Birthday:  OK, shocking but I don't have one birthday listed for this week (so hopefully I did not miss anyone).  So, if it is your birthday, happy birthday. We can give you birthday bubbles if you would like!
  • Early Release:  We have another early release Wednesday. If you want to plan ahead, we have early release days each week in November.
  • NO SCHOOL:  The Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th due to Veteran's Day.
  • NAPAC Special Education News:  NAPAC is a parent group for those with children on an IEP or 504 plan. For more information on the following or any other local events, visit our new web site at http//:NorthAndoverPAC.com or visit us on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/NorthAndoverPACEmail us at: Northandoverpac@gmail.com.  Tuesday, November 3 at 9:00 AM  join us at the new Central Office located at 566 Main Street for our next membership meeting.  Director of Special Education Leigh Ann Carbone is scheduled to attend. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! Coffee and Conversation will follow the meeting.
  • Facebook:  OK friends, we have to build up our Facebook likes for our PTO.  We only gained a few likes yesterday so let's get our "like" number up to 275 - we can do it and you will know what is happening at the ECC with our exciting PTO happenings!  Just click on like at:  https://www.facebook.com/naearlychildhoodcenterpto/
  • Twitter:  I am TRYING to be a "tweeter" for the first time.  I don't have many followers so feel free to follow me and make me feel like I have a following (lol) - you can follow me at:  https://twitter.com/NA_ECC - I also post my tweets on our ECC webpage.
  • Website:  You can find lots of great information on our website, such as teacher newsletters, my tweets (complete with photos), Director's weekly message, upcoming events, etc.  Check in periodically at:  www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool.  We are all trying very hard to use social media to further increase our ongoing communication.
  • November Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your November tuition is due on Friday of this week. Just a reminder that if you are having financial hardship and feel you may want to see if you are eligible for financial aid, just let Chris or myself know.
  • Cooties:  I almost forgot our famous cootie report - so, we had several children out with fevers, coughs and just "yucky" colds.  Be on the lookout and be sure you are sending them to school feeling up to activity of a preschool day. If you send your children to school too soon or not feeling well, they may end up out longer in order to beat the cooties. We only had one or two cases of the "dreaded belly bug" so let's keep our fingers crossed.
OK so I think this wraps it up for the beginning of a beautiful week!  Enjoy the good weather and be sure to give your children lots of outside playtime during the week!

Thank you for all of your continued support!

Marylou  :)

October 26, 2015

Dear Friends -

How are we all doing this early Monday morning?  Did you all enjoy your weekend? I am sure your Sunday consisted somewhat of Patriots football right!?  My weekend was pretty quiet. Just a weekend to get some odds and ends done for work and home.  I did enjoy the fall weather Sunday afternoon.  The colors are getting very pretty around here.

I have a few tidbits for you this week:
  • Welcome:  We want to welcome Aarush and his family to Miss Lauren's class today. We are sure he will have a great experience here in North Andover.
  • Early Release:  Please note that Wednesday IS an early release day.  I will remind you on Tuesday.
  • Lockdown/Fire Drills:  Your children probably have come home talking about our practice drills. Times have changed a lot so on a regular basis, we will be practicing fire drills and lockdown drills. If you have any questions on either, just give me a call.
  • CRAZY CLOTHES:  On Thursday of this week, we are going to have "Crazy Clothes" day. You can interpret it any way you want but basically, let's all get a little crazy!!!!
  • Teacher Newsletters:  Please be sure that you scroll down in my weekly news to the teacher's newsletters. As you can see, they are putting a lot of effort in making sure you are well informed of what is happening in the classrooms.  We are even going to start incorporating photographs giving you examples of children's work - stay tuned if you haven't seen it yet in your newsletter - it's coming!
  • Happy Birthday:  Well after so many birthdays last week, I wasn't sure if we had any left but let's all wish a happy birthday to Haley H. (Miss Kaitlin/AM), Brandon L. (Miss Sheri), and Gabriel (Miss Courtney).  We hope  you all enjoy your special days!
  • Save the date/Movie Night:  We are very excited to be working with Steven's Memorial Library for an "ECC Movie Night".  Details will follow but save the date of Friday, November 13th at 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your October tuition is now overdue. Please give Chris a call if you are not sure what your balance is at this time.
  • PTO Meeting:  Our next PTO meeting is Monday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.  We are hoping for another great turnout!
  • THANKYOU!!!!:  Our staff members are so grateful to the PTO and all who support them in their fundraising efforts.  They purchased iPods and speakers for each classroom to help with digital media. The staff are so excited and are already making them part of their classrooms!  We are all so spoiled!!
  • Phone Numbers:  Have you changed your phone number or e-mail???  Please know it is very important to let us know - we want to be sure if we ever need to get in touch with you, we have the correct information on file.
  • Cooties:  I am happy to say we had a pretty healthy building last week.  We thank you for following the guidelines of keeping your children home if they are not well. I think this helps the overall building but mostly it helps your children get healthy quicker!  Let's keep our fingers crossed for another great week!  We want a "cootie-less" building!
Well I think that wraps it up for an early Monday morning.  Have a great week and stay warm - it's a big chilly out there this morning!!!  :)

Dear Parents -

I hope you were all warm this past weekend - yikes, it was really cold this morning. I had to defrost my windshield!!!  Did you enjoy your weekend? I went to a fundraiser for Joanne's program. We heard the New England Tenors (they were FABULOUS!) and a very special group called My Own Voice. This was an extra special treat for me because as I saw each one approach the stage, I realized that many of them were graduates of our preschool so it was very emotional seeing them and hearing them sing. It was def. a highlight that I will remember and did not expect!  The highlight of the evening for Joanne was that she got to meet a professional wrestler from WWE (Pretty Paul Roma) and of course, she knew just who he was, as she is the #1 fan off WWE wrestling!  So, that was my exciting weekend other than dog sitting!

I have just a couple of tidbits for this week:
  • Parent Conferences:  Again, just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL for the afternoon classes today and tomorrow.  In addition, ALL children will be dismissed starting at 10:45 a.m. today.  Please enter through the Middle School for dismissal.
  • Happy Birthday:  Yikes, we have so many birthdays this week.  Happy Birthday to Morgan (Miss Laurie/AM), Camila (Miss Kaitlin/AM), Charlie (Miss Kaitlin/AM), Madeline I. (Miss Kaitlin/AM), Patrick (Miss Kaitlin/AM), Tyler (Miss Courtney), and Kirby (Miss Courtney).
  • Book Fair:  Thank you so much for supporting our book fair.  The good news is the online book fair is still on so you can take the time to browse through the books and order online. The link for the online book fair is:  http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/northandoverearlychldhdctr
  • Early Release:  Just a heads up - Wednesday is NOT an early release day.
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your October tuition is now due. Thanks!
  • Missing Paperwork:  Chris will be sending out letters to those parents who are missing paperwork for their registration folders. If you get a letter, please send in the missing item into Chris. She can copy any document you need.
  • Cooties:  Colds, colds and more colds!  The children are battling coughs, runny noses, fevers, etc. Still a few little belly bugs but overall mostly colds.
OK, I think that is it for today - enjoy your parent conferences - your classroom teachers are looking forward to meeting with you all!

Have a great week!

Marylou  :)

October 12, 2015

Dear Friends,

WOW, what a beautiful weekend!  I hope everyone got the opportunity to spend some quality family time outside over the past few days. I did the good 'ole clothes changeover, shopping, school work and of course, having the ceremonial last ice cream cone at our favorite stand before it closed yesterday (always such a sad day in the fall!). You would think after scooping ice cream so many years I would be sick of ice cream but I think it had the opposite effect on me!  Overall, it was a great weekend to spend time with my mom and Joanne.

Now, on to our tidbits for this week:
  • Open House:  Please don't forget that our open house is tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  All teachers will do a little presentation of what your little ones do all day at 6:45 p.m.  Please try to be here in time to hear the wonderful things happening in your children's class.
  • Scholastic Book Fair:  We have a FABULOUS collection of books this fall from Scholastic. Please come by to view the collection, purchase a special book for your preschooler and support our PTO/ECC. The fair is open today from 9-12 and 1-2:30; Wednesday from 10 - 1, 5:30 - 6:30 and 7:15 - 8:00; and Thursday from 9-12 and 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.  If you cannot make it, you can purchase books from our fair right online at:  http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/northandoverearlychldhdctr
  • Traffic Thursday:  Thank you to the morning pick up parents/guardians/friends who quickly shifted their pick up entrance to the Atkinson School. The Middle School had an odor of gas that they were not sure about so they evacuated, just in time for our dismissal. Thanks to the NA Police and our staff and all of you, the pick up went just fine!
  • Police Check Ins:  Our School Resource Officer Kara Caffrey, a former preschooler of ours, stopped by last week to re-introduce herself and let us know she will be around here and there. Do not be surprised if I am joined this week by a police officer in the drop off line - they are monitoring all of the schools traffic patterns and procedures and they have not been here yet. More than likely, they will be around this week so be sure to follow all of the rules I spelled out last week!
  • Parent Conferences:  On Monday and Tuesday, October 19th and 20th, the afternoon session will not have school and the morning session will be dismissed earlier than usual. This is to accommodate the elementary and ECC parent conferences. Your teacher will be scheduling your conferences this week. If you have an upcoming IEP, you do not need to schedule a separate conference.
  • Tuition:  Please remember your October tuition is now due. Chris would like to remind you to please put your child's name on your check.  Thanks.
  • Phone Numbers:  Already on numerous occasions this year we have gone to make a call to a parent and the number is disconnected. In addition, our robo-call report has identified several numbers that are disconnected.  Please be sure you notify either Chris or myself if your numbers have changed. It is so important, especially if there was ever an emergency or your child was sick at school.
  • Happy Birthday:  Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Cameron P. (Miss Sheri).  He has the sole honors this week believe it or not!  A very big happy birthday to you Cameron!  Enjoy your special day.
  • Cooties:  Well I know the "dreaded belly bug" is out there but knock on wood, we have not been hit hard just yet.  However, several of the children have had fevers and they are with and without colds. Please remember your child must be out of school until they are 24 hours free of fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea.  This will help us to keep a healthier building.
  • Early Release:  Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14th IS an early release day.  I will call and e-mail you later on today.
  • Teacher/Class Newsletters:  The teachers are putting a lot of effort in keeping you all well informed this year. In the weeks to come you will notice they are adding more specific information as well as photos from your children's class (of their various centers/work projects).  I always include their newsletter at the bottom of my weekly note so please take the time to open up the link and read it. The children want to be an active part of their class and sometimes, it involves them bringing something in from home.  Thank you for being part of your preschoolers education by reading this each week!

OK I think that wraps up my news for this week.  I hope to see you all either at our book fair or tomorrow night at the open house.  Enjoy this fall weather and as always, thank you for supporting our program/teachers!

October 5, 2015

Dear Friends -

Did you all enjoy your weekend?  I had a nice weekend. I surprised my mom and Joanne with a weekend away at the Cliff House where they had a nice relaxing spa visit, great food and we went to see the musical Saturday Night Fever.  OK, now tell the truth - how many of you could dance the dance in that movie or musical!  lol - I actually remember taking dance lessons with my sister to that movie - such funny memories.  Anyway, it was a great weekend to spoil my mom ( and Joanne, although she is always spoiled!).

Here are this week's tidbits:
  • New Custodian:  I would like to extend a welcome to our new custodian Amy Risacher. Amy will work from 2:30 - 11:00 at our building, keeping it nice and clean for the children and staff. We are sure she will enjoy her new position!
  • PTO Meeting:  We are very excited to have our first PTO meeting tonight (Monday night) at 7:00 p.m. at the ECC.  PLEASE consider joining this wonderful group of parents as they plan an exciting year for our little ones and for parents.  Thanks so much!
  • Smile - It's Picture Week:  School Pictures will take place on Thursday of this week.  Please remember to send your picture/payment envelope in with your child.  There will be an absentee picture day so if your child is sick or cannot attend on this day, he/she can get photographed on picture day.
  • NO SCHOOL:  Note that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 12th due to Columbus Day.
  • Early Release:  There is NO early release on Wednesday of this week.
  • Open House:  Are you anxious to come in to see what your children have been up to during these first few weeks of school. Well, you will soon see and hear what your children's day really is when they are at school.  We have an open house on Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  This is a parent/guardian night only and we ask that you do not bring your children. The reason is we want you to be able to hear what is happening and meet other parents. It is easier for you to focus and ask the questions you may have.
  • Scholastic Book Fair:  We have our first book fair coming next week.  We will send more information on it this week but we are still in need of a few volunteers.  Please take a peek at the sign up sheet and see if there is a time you can volunteer.  No "cashier" skills needed!  The sign up sheet can be found at:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4eaea729a1f49-scholastic1
  • Happy Birthday:  WOW - we have a lot of birthdays this week.  A very happy birthday to: Addison (Miss Laurie/PM), Geremy (Miss Laurie/PM), Keren (Miss Lauren), Zachary T. (Miss Lauren), and Aidan M. (Miss Courtney).  We hope you all enjoy your special days - Happy Birthday Friends!!
  • Pick up/Drop off:  Thank you so much for your patience as we get in a good groove at arrival and dismissal. A few things to note: 1) Please put your children's carseats on the passenger side of your car. 2) Please make sure you have your child in their carseat until you get to the drop off area in the circle. If you get rear-ended, we want your children to be safe. 3) Be sure your nametag is on the passenger side of the windshield or passenger window. 4) Please say your goodbyes to your children in the car. It is difficult for you to get out of the car and then have your child have to separate at that point. We ask that you stay in your car during drop off. It makes it easier for your children. 5) We ask that you not be on your phone or text during the drop off or pick up line. 6)  It is very important that you take only a right when leaving our driveway. It is illegal to go left and/or straight and it also holds up the traffic behind you in our line.  Thanks for your help with these tips. Please share these tips with anyone else you does either drop off or pick up. We want to make this process as safe and efficient as possible.
  • Cooties:  Uggghh, the dreaded "belly bug" has hit a few kids. Nothing major but something to watch out for. In addition, several children had colds with and without fevers last week. We hope they all feel better this week. Please remember, in order to keep everyone healthy, we ask that you keep your children home until they are 24 hours free of GI symptoms or fevers (and medication free).  Thanks!
  • Parent Conferences:  We will be joining the elementary schools by having parent conferences on 10/19 and 10/20. There will be no afternoon classes on these days and all other children will have early dismissal. More information and scheduling will be sent home by your children's teachers.
  • Tuition:  Please remember that your October tuition will be due on Friday of this week. Thanks!
  • Phone Numbers:  It is very important that if you change your phone number(s) you notify Chris or myself. We use these numbers for emergencies, robo-calls, etc. and we must keep our files updated. During the robo-cop last week, we  noticed there were several phone numbers disconnected (which were numbers originally given to us).  Thanks!
  • Warm Clothing:  Whenever the weather permits, the children go outside to play. It is very important to dress your children in layers so they will be warm enough when outside. It is especially very cool in our playground first thing in the morning since it does not receive sun until later on.
  • NAPAC:  NAPAC Special Education News - NAPAC is a parent group for those with children on an IEP or 504 plan. I think that wraps up the news for this week.  I hope you all have a great week and don't forget, PTO tonight at 7:00 right here at the ECC!

Thank you all for your continued support!

September 28, 2015

Good Morning Friends -

Happy Monday!  Brrrr it was chilly when I got into the office today. Even my desk is cold!!  I hope you all enjoyed your fall weekend. Did anyone stay up to watch the moon/eclipse?  I was going to but then I figured why go to bed late when I will see about 300 red moons on facebook Monday (and they will get better photos of it than I would get).  Anyway, my weekend otherwise was somewhat quiet. Just did a bit of odds and end shopping and then some school work.  Can you top that???  Lots to do in the week ahead though. Here are our "tidbits" for the week:
  • Welcome:  Sometime this week, we should be welcoming two new children and their families to our program. A big welcome to CJ (Miss Kaitlin/AM) and Gabriel (Miss Courtney). We know they both will enjoy their experience here at the ECC!
  • Happy Birthday:  We have a few birthdays this week.  Happy Birthday to Ava Y. (Miss Laurie/AM), Jackson T. (Miss Laurie/AM) and Angelina M. (Miss Jill).  We hope you all have a great birthday!
  • Early Release:  Yes, this Wednesday is another early release day (also known as Wacky Wednesday!). I will e-mail you the times again, as well as the good 'ole robo-call!  I know how you all look forward to those!
  • PTO:  Monday, October 5th is our first PTO meeting of the year.  It will be at 7:00 right here at the ECC. Please consider attending - it is such a great way to meet other preschool parents and to help out our school. I have a separate PTO e-mail going out tomorrow morning with more information.
  • SMILE- It's Picture Time:  OK so how much do you love those first preschool pictures, even if it is your child making faces or pouting (hey just think, if it is really good, your child can put it on the Ellen Show a few years from now!).  Anyway, school picture day is Thursday, October 8th. Envelopes will go home for you to fill out and choose the backgrounds you would like. If your child will miss picture day, there is always an absentee picture day!
  • NO SCHOOL:  In case you are planning ahead, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 12th due to Columbus Day.
  • Open House: Get your babysitters booked now - we have an open house on Wednesday, October 14th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. This will be a great  night for you to hear what your children's day is like and ask questions as well. We ask that you do not bring your children so that you can freely look around the classroom, hear the presentation and ask questions. In addition, it is a great way to meet the other parents in the class.
  • Cootie Report:  Well believe it or not we have already had some of our little friends out sick this year! It seems as though they have little colds with and without a fever.  So far that is the only little cootie loose around the school. Please remember if your child has a fever, vomiting or other GI symptoms, they should be out of school until they are 24 hours symptom/medication free. Thanks!
  • Website:  Please remember you can refer to our website for teacher newsletters, my weekly news, photos and upcoming events. The website is www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool.
  • NAPAC Special Education News:  NAPAC is a parent group for those with children on an IEP or 504 plan. For more information on the following or any other local events, visit our new web site at http//:NorthAndoverPAC.com or visit us on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/NorthAndoverPAC.  Our next membership meeting will be TuesdayOctober 6 at 9am at the new Central Office located at 566 Main StreetSuperintendent Jennifer Price and Director of Special Education Leigh Ann Carbone are scheduled to attend. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! Check out our brand new web site at http://Northandoverpac.com.  For more information, e-mail NorthAndoverPAC@gmail.com.
  • New Supt.:  Did anyone guess correctly as to who the "guest traffic director" was outside with me last Wednesday?  Well if you guessed it was our new Supt. Dr. Price, you were correct! She spent a few hours with us last week and will do so every few weeks. She has been out and about at all of the schools, school events, etc. since starting her new position in July.  I think she is going to be AWESOME for our school district! I look forward to working with her and hey, who knows, she might love directing traffic as a side job. Maybe I should have periodic "guest traffic directors" - anyone want to apply???  lol

Well, I think that is all of the news for now.  I hope you all have a great week ahead! Enjoy the weather today because I hear rain is in the forecast!  I will be in touch tomorrow regarding our Early Release (AKA Wacky Wednesday)!

Good Morning Friends -

I hope you are all well and had a great weekend!  I had a nice weekend myself. On Saturday I did one of my very favorite things. My sister Joanne was in the Special Olympics (which is more like field games). I have never been in one location where there is so much "love" all around!  It did not matter if they won or lost the event, as long as someone was there to "hug" him/her. We should all learn lessons from these very special "athletes"!!  Joanne just loves this day so much - she loves the events, the ribbon, the trophy and most especially the hamburger and chips at the end! And yes, of course we had to top off her very special day with Friendly's!  As I have always said, I think everyone should attend/volunteer at least one Special Olympics in their lives. It certainly gives you a new perspective on life and how we get all worked up over the little things.  All in all it was a great time! And yes, I won't forget about you Patriots fan - woohoo they won!

OK, so now on to the little "tidbits" for the day:
  • Happy Birthday: Wow we only have one birthday this week.  A very happy birthday to Brayden F. (Miss Courtney).  A very happy birthday to you Brayden! Enjoy your special day.
  • PTO Meeting:  How would you like to be part of a wonderful parent group, meet other parents of preschoolers, and help with various PTO activities?  Well, we can make that happen - our first PTO meeting will be Monday, October 5th at 7:00 right here at the ECC.  Please consider joining us!
  • Fire Drill:  Our children did a FABULOUS job with our first fire drill last Thursday. We had read a social story about the fire drill and the staff then practiced it with the class. Our Fire Lt. was very impressed with how quick the children got out and our accountability "method".  Nice job friends!
  • Cooties:  Well, I guess this is my first official "Cootie Report"!  It seems like beyond allergies, we have a little cold with and without a fever.  Just be on the watch for this. If your child has a fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea, they need to be 24 hours free of symptoms before returning to school. This greatly helps us keep a healthy building. It is important for you to make a good decision on whether to send your child or not. Sometimes a parent will ask their child if they want to go to school when not feeling well but please remember, your preschooler is too young to make that decision. Thanks!
  • Tuition:  Just a friendly reminder that your September tuition is now due.
  • Upcoming Events:  If you are ever wondering what is coming up with the ECC for events, or you want to check our newsletters, Director's weekly message, etc. you can go to the website at:  www.northandoverpublicschools.com/preschool and get all of our information.
Well I think that is it for this morning.  I will actually be back this week with a PTO update and an arrival/dismissal update.

Thank you all and have a great week!
