5th Grade Move Up Day

Volunteers needed for Understanding Our Differences

Understanding Our Differences (UOD) is a nationally recognized, educational program that teaches elementary school children to develop understanding and respect for fellow students and others with physical, sensory or developmental disabilities. Students in grade 3-5 at all elementary schools will participate in two programs this school year. Programs typically start with a 30 minute video or presentation about the disability, followed by 3-4 small group activities that run about an hour, and finish with a speaker and Q&A. We need volunteers to help with the small group activities. 

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for this special program! 


Your child does not need to be in the class to volunteer, anyone can!
  • There is a 20 minute online training session for all volunteers. 
  • Volunteers must have a current CORI on file with the elementary schools. Here is a link to the CORI form: http://nak12.net/CORI
  • More Dates Coming Soon programs are scheduled for the entire school year. We post volunteer opportunities a couple of months in advance and will add new dates throughout the year.

Knights in Training Fun Run Challenge!

Hello fearless leaders, 

The 7th Annual Knights in Training Kids Run is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st.  Each year a special trophy is awarded to the one North Andover elementary school with the highest participation rate!  Last year the THOMSON TIGERS dethroned the 4-time champion ATKINSON ALL-STARS...it was an incredible achievement.

The Knights in Training Kids’ Run (for kids under 12) will be held at NAHS on Saturday, Oct. 21 as part of the 2017 Homecoming celebration.  
  • Registration Fee: $5.00. 
  • Check-in begins at 8:00AM
  • Kids’ Run begins at 9:00AM
*ALL participants receive a race bib at check-in, a Knights on the Run band bracelet and lots of great giveaways!

Important Dates to Start off 2017-2018

August 15th - School Tours at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. No need to schedule, just come on by!!

August 21st - Class assignments emailed out to families. As we have done for a few years now, we are utilizing our School Messenger email system to notify all NAPS elementary-aged children of their teacher/class assignments for the 2016-2017 academic school year. This will be communicated through the family email addresses on file in our PowerSchool system. Each email will be child/family specific and will not contain a complete class listing. In addition, class lists will not be posted at the school.

August 30th - New Family Orientation at 6:00 in the back courtyard (no tour available at this event - please come on the 15th for a tour of the building)

September 5th - First day of school for 1st-5th and Kindergarten Orientation from 9:30-10:30. Kindergarten parents, please see the post below for more specific info about Kindergarten.

September 6th - First day of school for Kindergarten

September 9th - Welcome Back Picnic from 1:00-3:00 on the playground

September 12th - First PTO meeting of the year at 7:00 pm in the Franklin Library

September 13th and 20th - First early release days of the year (1:45 dismissal)

September 25th - K-2 Open House from 6:00-8:00 pm (specific grade level times will follow)

September 26th - 3-5 Open House from 6:00-8:00 pm (specific grade level times will follow)

November 7th - No school for students; full day parent conferences

Dismissal Form 2017-2018

Hey Hey Hey, Franklin Families! Below, I have attached a copy of the Dismissal Form for you to fill out and send in with your child on the first day of school. This form enables us to know how to send your child home safely. If at any point throughout the year you need to change the dismissal plan for a day or two, please send in a note to your child's teacher that morning alerting him/her of the change for the day. If your plan is changing permanently though, please fill out the form and send it in to your child's teacher again. Thanks for your cooperation!

Welcome to all Kindergarten families! We are excited to welcome all of your little dragons into our den. There is a lot going on at the school as we prepare for the upcoming school year, but please check out some of the important links below for more information on important Kindergarten dates and events! And we hope to see you all of you new families at New Family Orientation on Wednesday, August 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the back courtyard.

Please check out the suggested supply lists from each grade level below. Due to a lot of research and careful consideration, we are asking that if you are planning on sending in any type of disinfectant wipes, please avoid sending any in with bleach or harsh anti-bacterial chemical agents. Please try to select products that are more naturally derived and do not contain bleach. Thank you for helping to keep our school minty-fresh and free of harsh chemicals!
