Beyond the Classroom

posted Dec 18, 2019, 7:46 AM by Hillary Stasonis

With the three school cancellations in December, we have used up our traditional “snow days” for this year. Our last day of school will be Friday, June 19. For any future snow days, we will be using our Beyond the Classroom assignments.

With Beyond the Classroom, students will complete an assignment at home in lieu of making up the cancelled day in June. (As you might remember, in 2017-18 our students didn’t finish the school year until June 27th!)

So, what happens when school is cancelled again?
If school needs to be cancelled again this school year, it will be announced through the usual channels: on the District Homepage, on Dr. Gilligan's Twitter account, and via phone calls and emails home. In these messages, students and guardians will be directed to the Beyond the Classroom website to find their assignments: Assignments will NOT be due the day students return to school. Instead, students will have at least 1 week to complete the assignment.

Have more questions or need more information?
Please visit the Frequently Asked Questions page on the Beyond the Classroom website

Recommended Summer Reading List 2019 for Students Entering Grades K-5

posted May 28, 2019, 9:26 AM by Hillary Stasonis   [ updated Jun 24, 2019, 7:47 AM ]

We are shooting for the moon this summer with our reading goals as we team up with the public library for our Summer Reading Theme, “A Universe of Stories!” The books on this list are just suggestions! There are NO specific required titles for kids to read. Feel free to choose appropriate books for your unique reader. When deciding on books, have your child read a page out loud to see if it’s a good fit. If they struggle with more than a few words, it’s probably too difficult and may be a better choice for a read-aloud.

Pristash Award Nomination 2019

posted Mar 27, 2019, 7:41 AM by Hillary Stasonis

The Pristash Award was founded in 2006 to honor the efforts of its namesake David and Leanna Pristash. The award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated the same unselfish commitment to the North Andover Public Schools. Proceeds earned from the award celebration evening are used to fund a scholarship at the High School, which is given to a student who best represents the spirit of volunteerism. The Pristash Award is presented to one individual at each school level: elementary, middle and high school. This offers a wonderful opportunity for parents and teachers to recognize their peers and thank them for their contributions to our schools.
