NAMS Plan for Returning Students' Personal Belongings

posted May 14, 2020, 12:43 PM by Jorge Goncalves   [ updated Jun 4, 2020, 4:46 PM ]

Please know that no one is obligated to pick up students’ personal belongings and that these items may be picked up in the fall, maybe summer. In emptying the lockers we found that many lockers were almost empty.

We are also going to use this as an opportunity to have parents/guardians return school issued books and other materials, NOT CHROMEBOOKS (Students will be able to keep these Chromebooks over the summer). There will be two collection bins as vehicles exit for library books, school issued textbooks and novels, and other school issued materials to be deposited. Please write your child’s name and teacher on a post-it or piece of paper on the outside of the book when depositing it into one of our bins. We will have future opportunities for parents/guardians to return school issued books and other materials.

Yearbooks - If students ordered a yearbook, we will be placing a copy in students’ bags.

Grade 8 Time Capsule Projects from Grade 6 - We plan on putting all of those time capsule projects that current grade 8 students made in grade 6 into students’ bags.

Last Day to Pick Up - Wednesday, June 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where do we go to pick up?

We are asking that all cars follow our same drop-off/pick-up route but stop outside of the gym doors. Please review the attached maps, one is a school map and the other is a neighborhood map.

Who do we inform what bag(s) we are picking up?

We will have staff outside of the gym greeting the cars as they arrive. You can either have a sign on your windshield with the name(s) of student’s materials you are picking up or inform the greeter. These staff members will communicate to staff in the gym what bags are being picked up.

Can we pick up more than 1 bag?

Yes, you can ask for all of your children’s bags or friends too with permission from the other family.

How do we receive the bags?

The bags will be brought out of the gym to your vehicle.

Please open your trunk or open your rear window so that we can simply place the bag(s) in your car.

How do we exit the school?

After receiving your student’s bag(s) you make exit in one of two ways:

  1. You can take a right after the school at the stop sign near the basketball court and exit right onto Chickering Road next to the ABECC.

  2. You can take a left after the school at the stop sign near the basketball court and exit out the front of the building. You can take a right or left out of the front of the building.

Can I return my child(ren)’s library books and other school-issued materials at this time?

We are also going to use this as an opportunity to have parents/guardians return school issued books and other materials, NOT CHROMEBOOKS (Students will be able to keep these Chromebooks over the summer). There will be two collection bins as vehicles exit for library books, school issued textbooks and novels, and other school issued materials to be deposited. Please write your child’s name and teacher on a post-it or piece of paper on the outside of the book when depositing it into one of our bins.
