Security Procedures

posted Sep 26, 2016, 11:20 AM by Edward Foster

The school and district are in continuous process of revisiting, reviewing and tweaking our procedures (crisis and otherwise) to best ensure that our children are safe. During the school year students and staff will be participating in several fire, evacuation and shelter-in-place drills run by the North Andover Police and Fire departments respectively. Additionally, please be reminded of the following school rules for all visitors (parents):

  1. The only door used for visitor entry at the Sargent School during the school day (8:10 AM - 3:30 PM) is the front door. All other doors will be locked all day and into the evening. For the Kids' Stop after school program and associated community program after school activities, visitors/parents should enter using the back "cafe" doors.

  2. ALL visitors during the school day will be “buzzed in” and MUST report to and sign in at the office immediately upon arrival.

  3. All visitors during the school day MUST wear an identification badge/label issued at the office.

  4. If you are dismissing your child during the school day, student dismissal can occur at the OFFICE ONLY. Students will be called in their classrooms and report to the office to meet parents. NO STUDENT WILL BE DISMISSED TO PARENTS FROM HOMEROOMS OR FROM THE LIBRARY.

  5. In order to ensure order and safety, parents are asked NOT to congregate on the playground (or near the overhang) during AM drop off/recess. Less adults means less activity during this very hectic time. It also enables more certainty of who is supposed to be near the children. If you have child who is anxious and in need of some support during this time, please contact our school counselor and she will assist.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation with these rules and others to ensure the Sargent School is as safe an environment as possible.
