 Family Resources

Dear North Andover Families,

We know that the recent federal government shutdown may cause hardship for some families—particularly those who rely on SNAP benefits (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). As always, our priority is to ensure that every child in North Andover has access to the food and resources they need to learn and thrive.

School Meals Continue

Please remember that free nutritious breakfast and lunch are available to all students at school every day. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has confirmed that federal funding for school meal programs will continue through at least November, so meal service will not be interrupted. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these healthy, reliable options for their children.

Community Food Resources

If your family is experiencing food insecurity, there are several resources available to help:

  • Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline: Counselors can connect you with local food pantries, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, and other sources of food assistance. Help is available in 180 languages. 1-800-645-8333 projectbread.org/foodsource-hotline

  • People’s Food Pantry (North Andover): Located at 190 Academy Road, North Andover, MA, People’s Food Pantry provides food assistance to North Andover residents. Open the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:00–10:30 a.m. peoplesfoodpantry.org

  • Neighbors in Need (Greater Lawrence): This organization operates multiple food pantry locations in Methuen, Lawrence, and Andover, offering free groceries and support to families in need. Open Tuesday through Friday. needfood.org | 978-685-8321

Family Liaison Support

If you need assistance connecting with these resources or navigating applications, our Parent Liaisons are available to support you confidentially: Both Maria and Victoria are bilingual and available to assist Spanish and Portuguese-speaking families, as well as all English and non-English speaking families across the district.

You can also reach out to Care Solace, a free and confidential service that connects individuals and families to community-based resources. Visit caresolace.com/site/ma-northandover or call 888-515-7881 to connect with a Care Specialist. They can help locate food assistance, shelter support, or health services and are available in over 40 languages.

Our Commitment

We recognize that these situations can create uncertainty and stress. Please know that North Andover Public Schools and our wider community are here to support you. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you or someone you know could benefit from help accessing meals or other essential resources.

With care and community,
Pamela Lathrop
