The following is a statement from Assistant Superintendent Kristen Ando on behalf of North Andover Public Schools:

“The North Andover Public Schools’ mission is to cultivate a respectful community of engaged learners, insightful thinkers, and effective communicators, ensuring all students have equal access to an excellent education.

“We support our students in their ability and enthusiasm to be involved in their own education, thinking critically, and having their voices heard in a respectful way.

“We respect their desire to advocate and encourage respectful dialogue as part of the learning process during these challenging times. We want to support students’ voices and thoughtful protest on issues important to them. This is an essential aspect of our democratic society, and one that our students study and learn about with us.  

“We had a productive discussion with about a dozen students this morning, where they addressed their concerns about the effects of next year's budget.
 
"The district is committed to working toward a budget that ensures the best possible outcomes for all students. We also committed to ongoing communication with families, staff, and the broader North Andover community as the budget process continues to unfold."
