Wellness Program
The North Andover Public School District recognizes that good nutrition and physical activity are essential for students to maximize their full academic potential, reach their physical and mental potentials, and achieve lifelong health and well-being. A responsible approach to nutrition and physical activity promotes healthy weight maintenance and reduces the risk of many chronic diseases, including, hypertension, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. The School district acknowledges the national epidemic of childhood obesity and recognizes the critical role schools can play in reducing the problem. The School district is also committed to providing a safe environment for those students diagnosed with life threatening food allergies. The North Andover School district supports a Wellness Policy to provide an opportunity to create an environment that educates its school community in healthy behaviors that reinforce lifelong healthy lifestyles.
