SEL Surveys

Partnership with TransformEd

In early 2018, North Andover Public Schools (NAPS) partnered with TransformEd to curate a set of valid and reliable measures of social-emotional learning and school culture/climate. Data will be collected via student and teacher surveys in the Spring of 2018, 2019, and 2020.

The North Andover Public Schools (NAPS) SEL team will analyze the data each spring and will share findings on an annual basis with the larger NAPS community via this website. The ultimate goal of this work is to apply learnings from the SEL data to improve outcomes for all students.

Details About the Surveys

Research studies have shown that implementing effective social emotional learning programs in educational settings increases academic test scores by 11 percentile points. The purpose of conducting anonymous surveys on both students social emotional skills, as well as staff and students perceptions of school culture and climate, is to gather baseline data which will drive the Social Emotional Learning Action Plan for the district. Our ultimate goal is to integrate social emotional learning within teacher practices and instructional methods, so that ALL students will not only be college and career ready, but will also acquire the necessary skills to be happy, productive members of society.

School specific aggregate data that is collected will allow the Director of SEL and the SEL Leadership Team to develop and implement tiered interventions, professional development, curriculum and programming to meet the individual needs of the students and staff in each school in North Andover. Visit the SEL Skills page to learn more about the specific skills we will be teaching and measuring.
