COVID Protocols

Commissioner Jeff Riley and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) have mandated that all public K-12 students, educators, and staff be required to wear masks in school buildings through October 1, 2021. Masks are required on buses per federal mandate. As a result of the Commissioner’s Mask Mandate, the School Committee voted on August 24, 2021, to approve a district face-covering policy.

All COVID related information can be found on the district-wide COVID webpage, including the District Reference Guide, and will be updated throughout the school year as necessary.

Chromebooks

If your student has a chromebook from last year, please have them bring it to school with them on the first day. Students who are new to North Andover or did not have a chromebook assigned last year will have one waiting for them in homeroom.

All students grades K-12 are assigned a chromebook and charger that they are responsible for. They will maintain the device and make sure it is fully charged before bringing it to school each day. Additional chargers and chromebooks are not available in school if students forget to charge their chromebook or forget to bring it to school. In either of those events the student's teacher will suggest appropriate alternative options.

While in school, the chromebooks are protected from many inappropriate websites using a district-wide firewall and content filter. Safe search is on for all chromebooks as well as the most restrictive YouTube settings Google allows. These safety features prevent students from accidentally accessing inappropriate content. For students that intentionally seek out inappropriate content the building principal may reference the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and apply any potential disciplinary actions.

While at home, parents and guardians have the ability to monitor their children’s online activities. Most internet service providers have options to turn on parental controls. Please contact your ISP for more information on how to do that.
